    Somet Hingo Rother

Here's a pic of euro bottom bracket with the threaded end removed from center sleeve. I have shifted the spacing of the sleeves to move the spindle from side to side to even out crank arms. Insert an aluminum shim between the center sleeve and the outer threaded end. Hope this makes...

    Bad Idea #22

Great start, no rust, there's a change. That's a good looking frame. I woulda scuffed the powder coat and used it as primer, that stuff is a bear to get off.

    DEAD SPACE

The mock up looks like it's a stretched frame even though it isn't, the fork on these really is a great piece. I have a flightliner but no fork :-( or tank. Looking forward to this build, can't wait to see the paint.

    Hellion

Oh yeah, the striping drew me in, then the shifter, and now a 3 speed hub, this is gonna be a great ride.

Urine Yellow - mountain bike to bmx conversion

Well, gotta admit a complete Dum Dum move. The fork I modified for a height adjusted 26" - WAS A 24" FORK. UHHHH. All is not lost, little grinding and a 26x1.75 and it's mocked up with some random spare parts. But it's probably not any more rise on the fork than a regular 26" When...

    Bike for my son

I have 2 daughters, they ride both bmx and mountain bikes. We've done a lot of bike fitting 😀 I really suggest picking up used bikes, stick with quality brands, like trek, specialized, giant. tune them up, just resell as the kids grow. What's your son's height, we can give some...

Urine Yellow - mountain bike to bmx conversion

Checking the paint supply. Rattle Can: 4 different blue, black, white silver, yellow, 2 different pink, bad doo-doo brown, red, 4 different tan, light olive green, Chevy orange. Enamel for spray gun: black, 2 metallic silver, 4 tan-browns, white, 2 reds, cream, dove gray, 8 colors of...

Urine Yellow - mountain bike to bmx conversion

Fork It no idea what color this may end up, stripped the forks, shot some rattle can clear on for now. Silver goes with everything so it may stay this way.

    Salvageable?

You could ride it all summer - Nice and Hot weather, long rides. You'll effectively be taking all the steps mentioned. Wet leather, press to shape, dry. Kinda gross to think about in those terms but it's reality. Leather bike seats have a lot of funk going on :)

    Schwinn Varsity Party Bike

I really like that frame height, open to more of a cruiser than the typical taller road bike frames. If you can swap wheels to standard size versus schwin specific you're tire options open up dramatically. I use a lot of carb cleaner aerosol to de gunk derailleurs and freewheels and remove...

    3 piece crank disassembly

I have an axle nut ground down to fit inside freewheel tools. Thread it on to retain the freewheel tool but leave enough gap that the freewheel can back off. I normally use a vice, but have had to resort to freewheel tool bolted on and a breaker bar. Also cut thru freewheels with a 4"...

Beach cruiser parts selection for wheels.

Watch your hub width and frame drop width, if you haven't already looked. Bmx Guru is great source for wheel building parts, I go there first. I usually don't cross post sites, but this wheel building tutorial is my favorite. https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=47611

    Disc Brakes on Older Murray?

Watched the video, looks like the universal disc caliper mount fits nothing as a direct bolt on. BUT. It is a disc caliper mount. May be worth getting one. Line it up, don't use the sheetmetal plate. Look for overlap on the disc caliper mount and your drop outs to drill thru both and...

    Making My Own Head Badges

Great tech, thanks for posting. I gotta learn more about the transfer film. Lot of possibilities there.

Urine Yellow - mountain bike to bmx conversion

Messing around with a mountain bike to bmx conversion, figure my daughter or I could ride it. Key was finding a short height frame, this is 14"seat tube. Pic above is the bike as purchased, that side is a nice yellow, which I like, it sat outside and the other side is faded thru and a...

1" threaded to 1 1/8" threadless fork conversion, not headset

Changed tactics. Sliced 1/4" or so, off the bottom of the aluminum sleeve to allow steel of 1 1/8" headtube to protrude. Full weld on base of 1 1/8" headtube to original fork, step for the race. Couple plug welds. Ready to strip and paint. It's been fun. Time involved sure makes that...

1" threaded to 1 1/8" threadless fork conversion, not headset

Yep. The aluminum chunk from threadless fork can be reduced in height, really just need enough for the bearing race. I like that it's full tube in tube with plug welds, should be plenty strong for cruising around. I wouldn't trail ride with it.

1" threaded to 1 1/8" threadless fork conversion, not headset

Need to clean up the threadless steer tube aluminum chunk, left it on to seat the bearing race, as well as a little height adjustment in place of a suspension fork. Will drill or cut slots in the threadless headtube for plug welds.

    #2 Son's Thrashed BMX

Wheels and cranks are very good. As you've seen BMX are always beating up wheels. Wheels and cranks would sell separately, locally or on eBay, vitalbmx. Would sell the frame and remaining locally, shipping is an issue. Try to identify frame model, if it full chromoly it will be worth...
