    Chopper X

Looking good. How about some green flake on the tank. With no sissy pad.

    Caps!ze (MBBO)

Good job on wheel build. Like where this is going, great stance. Is the seat tube and bottom bracket a weld on ?

MTB ride: I was poorly equipped for this :D

I ride an old full rigid from about 89-90 on the trials around me sometimes. You should see the looks I get - but this was my trail killer for 5 years in the early 90's. I also ride a 24" bmx on the trails. A decent portion of the guys on the trails around me, are very bad riders and a $3k...

    when was this build?

Not a great pic, frame looks the same. Not the fork.

    Sliks

You could mounts the headers beside you - you're the engine. Or skip the headers and find some curved shiny-ish pipe for zoomies

    Rust Never Sleeps

Blow the flame down the post itself, sometimes heating the tube stuck on inside will pop the corrosion bond. Can also try heat cycling it, heat the post and quench the whole thing. Any way you heat it, dribble your favorite rust buster on while it's still hot and as it cools, as it...

    Drag-goon Slayer

Nice parts selection. Not sure if you're staying all vintage or not. Kickback hubs are nice, give a very clean look without cables. Banana seat and apes ?

Oxalic acid ( wood bleach) or citric acid both work

    anybody else feel like this?

If youre looking for a new challenge. Learn to build and true wheels. It opens so many possibilities in your builds and takes the costs down significantly. Shipping on wheels is expensive. This thread actually made sense to me. Followed it and started building wheels...

    anybody else feel like this?

I build bikes to take a break from building cars, build them for my kids. I have to consider how many riders I have since a lot of them just hang there. I've gotten away from over the top builds. Vintage frame with newer parts is always a fun build for me, weld on some brake posts, alloy...

Cold forging to close distance between rear dropouts?

It's not just the rear drop spacing. Chainline really needs to be considered for a smooth long lasting ride.

How to work out correct sissy bar and seat length

Agree on seat length. If you're using one on a 26" or 24" frame, need a longer seat. Most readily available seats are too short and the sissy bar has to tilt forward. Kills the look.

    Help me bling my townie

What are thinking of swapping the the e-bike kit onto? Light and fast is always my preference.

Nylon wheel to remove rust from rims?

I use a rubbermaid with the wheel jammed in diagonal. Filled with oxalic acid mix, very mild mix, you don't want to get a "water line" rotate them a few degrees while soaking. Wash the clean area with soap and water and wax. Dip it again to get the rest. Takes about 3 rotations. The...

    Can't find a comfortable seat

These may be an option. Riding position and a suspension seat post go a long way as well. I grew up riding a uni. I ride standing most of the time.

    What's your "go-to" bike?

    Sunday Model C

Clear coat or B-L-O?... what is the better choice for bare steel?

Use lacquer clear, easy to touch up and repair if you get rust issues from chips. Wipe with laquer thinner and reshoot. It blends right in.

Where to buy chrome 27 inch road bike wheels or rims ?

Donor bike is the way to go. I have a set in storage of you're not in a hurry. Came on a womens Murray that was basically new other than sitting in a garage for 40+ years.

    Homemade dropout alignment gauge

Pretty cool set up. I use the string method to get the rear triangle square. Then a piece of all thread with big washers to check dropout alignment by eye. Bend with very big crescent wrench, recheck with all thread washer deal.

    Raceline rebuild

Good looking ride. Are the brake line coverings. Shrink wrap sleeve for electrical connections ? Whatever they are I like the idea.
