Increasing travel on Shimano Acera front derailleur

It just wouldnt adjust far enough to get off the chain on small sprocket. Now it does. 5 gears or so is plenty for me. Im really digging internal gear hubs, bought one recently havent gotten it laced up yet. Did a schwinn for my Dad with a Sturmey kickback, very cool

    BO15 Monty-the full Monty

Great stance. You got a torch, grab some coat hangers and weld the sucker together.

I bend forks in the street water drain, throw a pipe on the headtube. No need to post a pic of the street drain.

    Polishing Galvanized Conduit

GOOD CALL. Done fuel and brake line bends across v pulleys. Didnt think about it for this, thatll get me the top loop. Might try a light post or phone pole too with some nails as guides.

    Polishing Galvanized Conduit

Good feedback, havent gotten any farther than a quick polish. May wax it or clear it. Ive had good luck on polished aluminum by baking turtle wax ice onto it. Get the part up to about 150 degrees and apply the "ice", keep working it in as it cools. Its some weird hybrid wax, but it works...

    Polishing Galvanized Conduit

Hard to take pictures of SHINY. It didnt take long to get a reasonable shine that would be similar to nickel. i think if I hit it with a buffer itll shine right up and not cut thru the galvanized. Might be easiest to polish while straight then just touch up any scuffed areas. So whos up...

    Polishing Galvanized Conduit

Conduit from the store. Has a grain to the galvanized Dupont rubbing compound and hand polish 360, 600, mothers. I didnt cut very hard with the sandpaper, left some grain to be sure I didnt cut thru the galvanizing Indoor light Sunlight

    Polishing Galvanized Conduit

Been thinking of how to make a sissy bar, theyre generally hard to find that actually fit a 26" and shipping one is painful. So I have galvanized conduit and a bender and a vice. I can always cut a flat steel plug and hammer it into the end for the dropout mount and figure out a little crimp...

Increasing travel on Shimano Acera front derailleur

Gave me just enough room to get the chain off the cage in small front cog, large rear cog to set this up. Not ideal, better front derailleur chiice would have avoided it. Might come in handy for others here as we mix and match components that we have on hand. Took the bike for a ride...

Increasing travel on Shimano Acera front derailleur

I found the positive stop that limits the cage movement towards the frame. The limit screw acts on the other side of this. I needed more travel towards the frame and this was blocking the travel. Closed Open I carefully ground the face of this. Checking movement as I went to increase...

Increasing travel on Shimano Acera front derailleur

Helping a neighbor kid get a bike going. She was gifted the bike, and doing some training for a triathalon. Chain broke and destroyed the front derailleur, had a tiagra, odd model, replacements were $40-50. I picked up a tiagra that I thought would work for $15. Well, I apparently didnt...

    BO15 The Silver Maggot reborn

Coming together well. What tires are those. Im looking for some options, havent found the ones I want in stock. Availability and mail service are an issue, prices are high too.

    BO15 Rusty&Krusty

Good build. Like the front end Ive been interested in Jerald skicks. Anyway you could post sidewall height and tread width once its mounted and aired up.

This is looking good, the pile of SE racing goods was a nice surprise.

    BO15 El Cholo bike

Couple of things to take a look at. In the pic with the blue wheels, the coaster brake tab is bolted to the bracket / hanger on the frame, in the pic with the gold wheels, its not. See if you can get it rotated to bolt thru the bracket again. Interested in the tooth count on the front...

Shimano FD 4403 3x9 31.8 clamp, front derailleur, Aug 4. Helping a neighbor kid

Thanks for checking. If you have good ideas on substitute models that would perform well, shoot me an IM. Im reading up on this front derailleur and road bike front derailleurs in general. FD-4403 arent too plentiful.

    BO15 El Cholo bike

Great build, I cant get over how the lines sweep from the bottom bracket all the way to the grips. Brown, tan, and gold is a nice color combo.
