I am really glad I asked and got a different perspective. I initially thought of the neon/glamour days of late 1980s early 90s mountain biking and this was the direction I thought of.
Then, with the procurement of 2 different color "springer" fork blades (that matched in shape!), a spring from...
You know.......it wouldnt take much to go bare steel on this build, it might look good showing off some tubes (see pic above), but it might just be too nice of an approach this type of bike.

Progress has been slooooow: heat, health and out of state travel.
I got out my Cheerios sponsored CAD tools and made up a couple of gussets to brace the lower chain stays/fork (above and below) to the seat tube. Did a little welding to see how well it holds together. Hopefully more welding to...
What you may wish to consider is an issue I used to see when doing corrosion mitigation on Florida bridges. Contractors would sometimes collect and reuse their blasting media to save $$. However when blasting off the deeply penetrated chlorides from the surface, the salt contaminated media would...

For some time I wanted to start a thread of bike racks. I am sure there are some good ones, artistic ones, some that that are failing poorly, some that are impromptu that were never meant to be used as racks, and some that are just plain boring but are in an interesting location or have a cool...
For some time I wanted to start a thread of bike racks (useful ones too) I've got pics of a couple of interesting ones. I just wanted to start the thread after the Summer BO since there is so much going on. Also, a bike rack could be boring but at a cool location......
I like the juxtapose comparison. The Romet "all-rounder" with the longer wheel base more relaxed frame (space between the rear tire and seat post for tire pump) and the tighter/shorter wheel base Villiger. Bikes for all occasions!!..... Yay......🎉
