Nothing much happening, but I did buy some tube yesterday. I'm going to bend a new top tube and make a new new middle tube, so the frame looks something like this. When I replace the tubes, I may even use a different fork and make truss rods for it. I'm finding it a bit hard to get stuff...

I've done it a heap of times with no problems. I'd suggest using a well used drill bit, so it's less likely to grab, then just sand/file any sharp edges.

Mine is branded as a Hanimex, but I've also seen them with a Bennett brand, and Quicksilver, I think. From memory, I'm pretty sure they were made by Koizumi.

I decided not to alter the wheelbase after all. I looked at for a while today, and realised if I shorten it by cutting the seat stays and bending the triangle up, it will put more angle on the head tube........I'm happy with the geometry now. Decided to keep the name, even though the new frame is not a Malvern Star. I've used it as a stage name for a few gigs when I was having issues with a booking agent ;)

Ouch!!............I've fitted 2.125 tires onto 3" rims, but the extra inch must have been too much for it.

Probably only needs to be about an inch shorter Luke. Not much, but I can see in my head............just want the rear tire closer to the seat tube. Also, changing the angle of the seat stays will help with flow of the top tube I'm going to fit.

OK........frame change time :eek: Over the last couple of days I've tried every different combination of parts I can think of on the frame, and just can't get the look I have in my head. The wheelbase is too long, and I don't want to cut the frame to shorten it. I could get the look I'm after...

I ordered a set of these.......they are the only thing I'll have to spend money on for this build (apart from paint). Not sure if I'll use them with a drop or rise. I'll try them both ways when I get them and decide then. The paint is very good, but I want to lose the decals which are buried...

I will be having fun this year Mark, and will be endeavouring to build a simple, fun bike to rid a lot of miles on. In buildoffs past, I have been guilty of building for votes, but this go-round, will be enjoying the show and watching the keener builders go for it.
