The original cranks I was going to use would have been a bit long after I cut the steer tube and dropped the front end lower, so I had to go and buy a new set. I got the BB conversion done and cranks fitted last night.......chainline is perfect:). Also got most of the work done on the speaker in...

Got the last of the painting done today :D I've got a couple of out of town gigs this weekend, so it'll have an extra few days to harden before I start putting it together. Also putting the finishing touches on what used to be the cup holder.

Got it at Masters Luke. First time I've seen it in a rattle can as well. I tried it out on a scrap piece of tube today, and it is quite flat.......I was expecting a bit more gloss, but looks good.

My original plan for this bike was to be flat brown. I intended to finish off the welds nicely, smooth everything out with bog (what you guys call bondo), and use my friends pro spray booth to paint. Life got in the way and I don't have the time to finish the frame off as planned, so I had...

    Musicians participating in the Build-Off

Been meaning to get around to this for a while, but have been too busy. How many musicians are building bikes for this year's build-off. I'm a drummer........played in the same band for 15 years, then started playing guitar and doing solo gigs for a living for 8 years. Had a 10 year break from...

Originally, this frame had a big ugly coaster brake arm mount welded onto it.........so I cut it off :D. Been trying to come up with an idea to attach the brake arm to the frame, and finally thought of this. It also means the brake arm is nearly hidden..........just need to turn up a spacer to...

Thanks Luke!.......Been flat out getting the Val tidied up, playing gigs and having trouble with crappy tenants and bad property managers, so it was good to be able to get a couple of hours work done on the bike today.

Not an exciting update, but at least I got a bit of work done on the bike today. I welded the seat mount on, welded and cleaned up where I had cut stuff off, and made a new plate to replace where I removed the stand mount from the chainstays. It's pretty much done apart from paint and assembly...

Thanks so much guys and gal. I still didn't get around to any bike work last week, I picked up an extra gig and did some work on my Valiant on the weekend, and have been busy at work with end of semester assessments and reporting. I will be doing some this weekend..........I have to, so I can...

No Brian, the rail block came with the stem. Thanks mate, yes the Valiant is great :) I didn't get around to any bike work last weekend. It was a 4 day weekend, and I had 3 gigs and wanted to spend some extra time with my wife and son........not much point working your butt off to get ahead...

Gichigami Growler Grabber - Finished!!! Pic on page 8

You can usually braze a small area with the Bernzomatic torches......depending on the thickness of material. They are really designed for soldering and silver alloy brazing (silversolder) applications. Giving a lower temp flame, you will have to heat the area to be brazed for a lot longer...

We have an awesome brake shop here in town......my Dad used to go there when I was a little kid. I'll be getting them to add the booster.....brakes are about the only thing I don't touch.

Thanks Luke......I'm going to keep it pretty much as it is. Needs tyres, so I'm putting a set on with narrow whitewalls (not really whitewalls, more of a strip.....I'm sure you know the type I mean), and dropping the front down to match the rear. mechanically, I'll change the dizzy for an...
