I got the seat mount welded and brazed today. I have four days off work and only two gigs this long weekend, so hope to get the mount welded onto the frame and start doing some cleaning up of welds, and where I cut stuff off the frame.....then I can fit the BB and check chainline and clearances...

It's actually a micro adjust seatpost. I'll post a pic with the seat on the post when I get the chance.

I live less than 5 minutes away from work, so went up to the workshop this afternoon and fabricated the seat mount. My son went with me and took a couple of pics of me working. I put a couple of small tack welds on the post in case I had to move it, but it looks pretty square and where I want it...

It's Sunday afternoon, and after a relaxing couple of days, I made a cardboard template for the seat mount. If I still fell energetic in a couple of hours, I'll go up to the workshop and make the plate from steel.

Custom Diamondback "JOKER" ~~DONE, FINISHED, CONCLUDED!~~

Looking at around $180 for a good job (the other place is cheaper, but crap), for the frame and fork bits (two colours), and I can rattlecan for about $60. I'll probably get it powdered in the future. It's not a necessary vehicle I'm buying, and I'll feel guilty about buying it until I can sell...

Looks great Luke. I was going to powdercoat mine, but a 4 wheel purchase is happening next week, so rattlecans it will be!

Thanks guys, really appreciate the comments :). Usually on Friday afternoon, I get home from work, have a shower, load my guitars and PA in the car and head off to a gig. No gigs this weekend (which I'm really happy about), so I fired up the grill, and had a couple of cold beverages. While the...

Thanks guys.......really appreciate the comments. I started playing around with the saddle positioning today after work. It will be close to where it is in this pic.....maybe slightly lower. Hopefully I will get the mount started this weekend.......so far, it's my first weekend this year with...

I managed to get the grooves milled in the stem today, and also rounded off the top edge a bit. The only end mill bit I had the correct size was "well used", but once I paint the stem flat black the rough finish won't show up as much. Very happy with the result    The idea...

The stem I purchased for the bike looks a bit bulky now that I have taken a different direction. It would have looked OK with the low rise MX bars I was originally going to use, but don't suit the look I'm after. I think I have a big purchase coming up, and don't want to spend any more money on...

I couldn't wait, and went to work to get the other fork tube so I could see it all together. I still have to buy some bolts to go through the caps into the plugs, but I'm very happy with the way it looks.......just as I envisioned :) Makes me want to get the seat mount fabricated, so I can fit...

Thanks LowpowerD. I used a brand new tool tip and took it nice and slow. I haven't machined much alloy, but the finish did turn out nice.

Knowing I probably wouldn't get much time this weekend for bike work, I worked through lunch today, and stayed back for an hour after work this afternoon. I brazed the plugs into the fork tubes at lunchtime and machined the fork crown caps after work. I'm very happy with the result........it's...

Thanks so much for all the kind comments :) I just wish I had a bit more time to get on here and check out more builds. Here's another boring fork pic. I cut the fork tubes to length today. I'll weld the plugs in tomorrow and start on the alloy caps to fit on top. Doesn't look too exciting now...
