I like the all red fork idea.

I drilled, threaded and parted off the fork tube plugs today. The plugs will be fitted inside the tubes and welded in place. I have to go and pick up some alloy bar tomorrow to machine the caps for the crowns, and get some allen head bolts while I'm there. Given the time I actually get to work...

I had a spare 10 minutes at work today and machined down some bar stock to fit inside the fork tubes. I did a couple of quick passes on the lathe, which is why it looks a bit rough. l plan to part off two plugs, drill and thread them (one for each fork tube), then weld them inside the tubes so...

I dug through the parts bins today and found the cranks I'll use. I don't like the engraved logo on the bash plate, so flipped it around......yeah i know it's on 180 degrees out :oops:.....I'll fix that. I may not be able to use the bash plate....depends if I need to mount the chainwheel on the...

Thanks for all the kind words :) I'm really happy with the way this bike is taking shape. As soon as I cut out the seat tube, it went in a whole different direction than I originally planned. The next job is to fab a seat mount, so I can test ride before I start cleaning up welds and removing...

Aaaargh........looks like I'l have to think of something else now. Great minds think alike!!

I'd do a bit of research/questioning before I tried this on an alloy frame Uncle Fide. It's been 30 years since I did metallurgy at college, and never really worked with aluminium in my trade, but I've heard some horror stories about people trying to cold set alloy frames.

The nice courier man dropped off a package today :happy: I quickly fitted the bars on before it got too dark to take pics. I'm not using the stem in the pics, but it is similar. Also the saddle is just balancing, but will be the approx positioning of it..........so much for "function over form"...
