    Twice Round the Bend

Just scored a left side teardrop pedal in perfect patina condition. What do you think the chances are that I can find a matching right side before September 6th?

    Twice Round the Bend

That's where I found mine. It's amazing what people throw away.

    Twice Round the Bend

A well worded and accurate analogy.

I have never opened one up, but clockspring is probably a good description of how it functions, but the axle is also slightly offset in the hub.

I still haven't decided which way to go with the wheel/tire combo.

    Twice Round the Bend

Absolutely. 98% of my build is thinking and 2% is building.

Here's what it would look like with a shorty rear fender. Pretty cool, eh? But notice how it interrupts the flowing lines of the frame. That's why I like the light colored wheel and tire.......they contrast the frame instead of matching it and interrupting the flow. It's all about the...

Here are some better pics of the rear of the front fender. Just another reason that I have fallen in love with the design of this bike. I will try to reproduce this style on the shorty fenders (if I go that route).

I wanted to do shorty fenders on this build, but these fenders are amazingly mint and I just cannot cut them up. But it's almost impossible to find a junk set (cheap) to use. After mocking up the fenders, I like it better without fenders for this build. The front fender would probably look...

These bikes have very unique fenders. Especially the front fender.

NEWEST * 1936 MONARK SILVER KING HEAD BADGE DECAL * 1934 HEAD BADGE AND MONARK SUPER DELUXE MASCOT SPRITE

I don't have the original headbadges. Both of my wing bars have the same mounting pattern.

NEWEST * 1936 MONARK SILVER KING HEAD BADGE DECAL * 1934 HEAD BADGE AND MONARK SUPER DELUXE MASCOT SPRITE

My frame has the holes top and bottom with 3 1/8" spacing. Which headbadge did mine have? I think it's a '37.

Yeah, Kingfish built one without the shrouds a year or two ago. He did a nice job with it. To me, those beautiful art deco shrouds make the bike. They make the frame lines flow. The really tricky part would be finding all of the unique hardware, brackets, nuts and bolts. It would be a...

The only thing I don't like about the 24x3's is, with the high bars, it looks like a BMXer. The 26's look good with the high bars. I might try some boardtrack-type bars. They would probably look really good with the 24x3's.

    Twice Round the Bend

I have the original bars and stem and some others that I could use to boardtrack the bike, but I cannot ride them that way. I had planned on trying many different components and that was one thing I was definitely going to try. I wanted to do the shorty fenders also, but after studying and...

    Twice Round the Bend

Now I am using an old Schmidt's bottle opener to hold them in place. Unfortunately it is too short to use for the custom truss rod/headlight bracket I need.
