Well, we're getting... somewhere. Not exactly sure where just yet, but as soon as I figure it out I'll let you know.

Shakedown run today. Rode about 7 miles. Bike rides nice and smooth and tracks straight; it's a good no-hander. But the drivetrain had me pretty concerned. It was way more crunchy and clunky than I expected. The clunks came once every time I leaned hard on a pedal, so twice every rotation of...

We just drove home to PA from Florida up I-95 a couple months ago. My only request for the whole trip was that we stop at Pedro's. It was as wonderful and as awful as ever.

Well, today I tore into the tank again. I hated to make any irreversible changes, but in order to put a decent functioning horn button in, I had to grind off the rivet to remove the existing hardware. The new button looks right at home in the dashboard. Here's the whole mess rewired...

Stem and grips swapped out. Not a huge visual change, but they're details that I like. Also, these came from Amazon. I have lots of ideas but lack the ability to fabricate them into reality. We'll see what I come up with.

Finally got around to slathering some JB Weld into those pedals from @OddJob . Clamped them and let them sit for a couple days, then I dabbed some flat white paint on to make the repair less obvious. I'll probably do another round of flat white, but i think they look good enough for service as...

Got some things in the mail yesterday, starting with these momentary-on buttons. Pretty small, looks like just about the right size to fit in the "dashboard." Need to dremel off the rivet to remove the original one, will be checking on that soon. Also got this Fleabay purchase. I had seen a...

Stopped today at a local place called Surplus City that has a little bit of everything. Kinda like Tractor Supply meets Michael's Crafts, but just the leftover clearance stuff. I remembered they had a whole section of truck and tractor lighting stuff, so I figured I might find something...

So you're saying that because it's all in proportion, you don't realize just how deceptively massive it is? Hmmm... https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a18200103/blastolene-indy-special-specialty-file/

BINGO. Will be buying some of these. That guard looks AMAZING with the lights, by the way.

Question for the RRB hive mind: Will LEDs designed for 12v automotive applications run on a little 9v battery? This one says yes: (I put it in as a thumbnail because it's a LONG screenshot) The problem is they're like 5 bucks each. When I look up similar stuff on Amazon, it's way cheaper...

Now that is EXACTLY what I needed to see. I would need much smaller lights, but if I could find convex ones like that, and then set them into the right diameter tubing, either aluminum or PVC painted chrome, that's the look I'm going for... BRILLIANT! Brainstorm headed in a different direction!

Ok so I'm thinking taillights. As cool as the original taillight thing is, I'm not a huge fan of it. It faces upwards, not back as it should. It looks like a police beacon, or like it belongs on a 1940's rendition of a UFO. It doesn't give me late '50s/early '60s vibes. I think I want to save...

This morning was serendipitous. I got a text message from a friend through my group of bike nerds. His sister actually is a regular at our Thursday evening rides. He was looking for some parts for a rat project he had taken on commission, and I have just enough rusty junk stockpiled that...

As long as the bead stays seated, that's the best you're gonna get. Sometimes the whitewall just isn't even on the tire. I've also had trouble with beads that don't want to get all the way up and in. As others have said, put in just enough air to get them to hold their shape, then twist at them...
