y'all am I crazy? Or would some of you have done this too? Ok let me explain. I got this nice AMC head badge sticker because I wanted to rebadge the bike as an AMC to match the chain guard I'm using. I figure AMC was a department store brand made by Murray, so no foul. It's not like I'm...

For a while I wasn't a huge fan of index shifters. Kinda the same mentality as driving a stick shift as opposed to an automatic, I guess... "I know enough about how a bike works to find my own gears, thank you." Then I got my daughter this cool old green 5 speed Collegiate and she didn't like...

    FlightLiner Blue

I discovered those little cylindrical leather seat bags on Fleabay a couple years ago. I now have a bunch in different colors on various bikes in the fleet. They're perfect for a little tool kit.

That single foot peg... is that an homage to the peg one uses to mount a penny farthing?

Ok, so I love this shifter so far. It's a Shimano Tourney SL-TX50 and it can be found for less than $15 on Fleabay. Not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for anything on a bike that mimics a corresponding component on a car. Stingray stick shifters, white letter tires, bucket seats on musclebikes...

Got some deliveries from China over the past week: Looking forward to getting this set up. I think it's actually kinda cool looking.

And a junker rear derailleur to use as a tensioner, I assume. Do you just lock that in place with the limit screws?

Wow! Not only is that a great-looking bike, but the 3X1 is a very interesting setup. Heaven knows I have enough front derailleurs down there in the dungeon. I actually think I have a really good candidate for something like this. Couple of them, as a matter of fact.

I guess this is a big part of it. I like the rack too; it seems wrong to hide it. Yep. I wonder if I can make little “bed sides” from wooden slats…

Not sure I'm sold on the basket/crate. I want to like it, I really do, but something's off. Maybe it needs to be longer, or maybe it needs to be wooden.

    Bring on your GREEN BIKES!!!

I seem to find a lot of green bikes This is still my go-to rider. Crusty and trusty. Two-speed Bendix trigger shift. Was excited to find this one. Recently updated this to a 2-speed kickback, then noticed that the forks need some attention. Bought this to go with my camelback Collegiate...

    Retro therapy

I did something like this several years ago when I found a KHS Winner that was a twin to the one I got in middle school in the early '80s. It was a low-end Japanese bike boom 10-speed, and I loved it. The build was great fun. Very gratifying putting aluminum wheels and crankset and such on it...

    Abner DONE!

What are those tires? They're amazing.

Ok, so definitely not great up close But not terrible from a distance. I'd be a lot more upset if the rest of the bike were perfect, but we already have chips, scratches, rust spots, cable rubs, et cetera. And the most important thing... it doesn't show from the drive side

    Am I a hipster now?

your post was quite the history lesson AND it made me laugh. thanks! (^_^)

Well this did not go according to plan. That's what happened when I took off the seat tube sticker. It was actually one sticker wrapping all the way around the tube, and I am thinking I didn't get the last bit with the heat gun for long enough and that's why it took paint with it. The side I...

also I really like the way this bike is shaping up (pretty sure I stole the idea for taking the pic in front of the wings from someone on here... I know I saw it somewhere online recently)

Put another few miles on it today. The shifter is a little finicky about downshifting from 6th to 5th unless you hit it juuust right... sometimes I end up stuck halfway into 4th and I have to go down another gear and back up till it settles in the right location in the shifter. I assume there...
