    FENIX- Finished!

You're welcomed to hang with me anytime. I wasn't sure of the "patina" direction at first? Stretched bikes are so sleek and contemporary…and are often painted with bright appealing color. But the more I thought about it "why not" go in the opposite direction – weathered and beaten? Incongruous...

Brian, I was also surprised with how the bezels turned out, they slowly grew on me. I'm now done with all the painting...its just finessing and tweaking!

Everything's relative? Without the big headline in place, I agree the bezels could tightly fit more to the contour of the head tube. But with headlight on the bike, it's nice to have the bezel grills fan out from behind the headlight.

Here's a shot of the bezels placed on the tank…kind-a-looks like an eye of a fly.

    FENIX- Finished!

Gave the tanks some thought last night and decided to go the route of a barn find bike (rust and patina)! Added some "wing" graphics to the bike (after all it's Fenix the bird) similar to bicycles of the late 40's and 50's.

I'm not sure if I'm going with the "spaceliner" bezels on the tank sides…after painting the bike, I'm not feeling the bezels work. I'll sleep on it tonight and jump back on it tomorrow am.

Started painting the bike…included a Phoenix icon on the saddle.

Rockit, normally I wouldn't have a problem trading with you…but my back's up against the proverbial deadline wall. There's no time for me to ship, wait and paint...I'm sorry! You do know you can have your plastic rechromed?

RM, I'm not sure? I keep changing my mind. Initially I was going to paint everything, but the chrome does give it a cool factor.

I found a metal grill; I think was to some electronic device? Anyway, I cut two small sections and incorporated them into to Spaceliner tanks.

Hey Falstaff, I wasn't complaining about my 32 year old baby girl…I was trying to compromised…looking for a win-win resolution:happy:. It really doesn't matter (I always concede to my only child). We'll start work on her house tomorrow. I'm extremely proud of her…because she purchased this...

    FENIX- Finished!

Thanks guys. I was very surprise when I had the idea to see if it would work and tried it...it looked like it was made for the side tanks. I was hoping to do a tear down on the bike and paint this weekend…but my daughter just purchased her first home and asked me to help her to do quite a few...

FYI, I'm not using the entire tanks, just the chrome bezels. Here's a very quick mock up on how it will be used. Also if you look to the right of the bezel on top of the fork; that's the toggle switch for the headlight.

Interesting thought, but no. I'll share later.

    Wow, what a killer build!

I was rummaging through my parts bin and I forgot I had two Spaceliner tanks I've never used…(but I now have an idea on how to use them) I got my light working…the original light was a 12V Xeon motorcycle lamp. I easily converted it to a battery operated LED. Now I just need to locate a...

    FENIX- Finished!

Here's where I'm landing with the side tanks…I placed an all-thread through the frame's tank, added a nut to both ends, and a washer cut in half and tacked to the rear (to prevent the tank from moving around). Next, tied it together with the side tanks and a medallion on the outside. The...

    FENIX- Finished!

As I began parting the bike for painting, I realized there were still a few things I hadn't done, but needed done. First was the front disc brake, I hadn't attached the brake. I found an aftermarket bracket and welded it and the fork braces together. Next, was the seat post area. I love the...

Thanks KF…those bars get a lot of attention for sure. The only draw back is the 1" O.D. I had to go with a motorcycle lever then drilled out the I.D. to fit (apparently only Harley has 1" bars).

    FENIX- Finished!

Here's one last look of the complete bike before the tear down for painting. I took it out for it's inaugural ride this morning…the SA 3 speed makes the ride a joy. I finally got the brakes working. Last to do; wire the light and weld the tank sides to the frame.
