Finally put the wheel inserts in ! Front wheel was easy. The rear wheel not so easy but the inserts are in .

Decided to also get the brakes done. I had to modify the rear brake arm.

Decided to work on the wheelie bar today . Say good bye to zip ties .

I finally have a rear brake that will reach the rim . I will still have to modify it though. Or look for a better candidate. At least I have something to work with.

Ok back to my current build off bike. Now we have a drop stand installed It’s getting closer to being done. Still a little more to do though.

The original drive train was skiptooth. The frame, the fork , the fork linkage , and seat post are original , along with the crank hardware . Eveything else was part of a 1970s refresh. I’m going to make it more period correct if I can’t find original parts . I have a lot of bikes to build...

It’s called rear steer . But basically either person can drive the fork steering.

Thank you for the compliment. I just picked up this one and I may use it for a future build off . This bike is 125 years old ! Lots of incorrect parts but the frame the fork the steering linkage and sestpost are correct. This bike was $150 new in 1897 .

You have to have a axle that fits but isn’t overly long . I’ve actually shortened axles in the past on these type of builds .

I’m considering adding the rope skirt guards only because I have the notches to do so on the rear fender. I’m on the fence on that idea though.

I just need to adjust the front wheel a little and add pedals and this will be ready to ride.

I’m a fan of Evaporust. That being noted I didn’t use Evaporust on this bike at all . I used a copper pad on the heavy stuff with dawn dish soap . Lots of people won’t use the copper pad . My logic is better to hit it once than go back and forth with 000 steel wool and ruin the surrounding...

Made a little progress today .The shifter is cleaned and assembled. I’m grateful to have worked on my bikes for a week before the cold weather arrived in the North East.

I fibbed have decided to add one more part for today . Columbia put a model number on thier badges for each model . I found the correct badge with no model number a small miracle .
