    MBBO Won’t finish: Savage B.O.B.

Deven at Alchemist Customs came through with another unique set of muscle bars! I can’t wait to mock them up!

Hmmmm. I guess I could do that if I buy a really really long Allen wrench to fit through the entire wheel. Now that I think about it, drilling and tapping that straight with the other fork blade only 4” away may be near impossible.

Wrapped up the fender mounting brace. Punched a hole in the fender. And together… There will be a large form fitting washer in there to increase the stiffness. And I’ll use a Nylock nut when I actually mount it. Next step for this is to weld it to the fork.

@Chad T I've been doing a little thinking. If I use an oval head, the roundness of the head may look better when recessed into the fork. But it would mean I could only tap the inside wall of the fork. My concern would be that the forces of the brake arm acting against the end of the bolt...

Oh, I think I get it. You're saying to drill/tap through the leg so the head is on the outside. The bolt would stick through the slot, but not so far as to stick into the spokes. That's a really good idea! I wonder what would look better, a pan head or a flat head I recess into the leg? hmmmmm

I'm not sure I'm following your suggestion with the allen head bolt. Can you elaborate? The orientation of the brake pad engagement plate on this bike is the same as my last bike I built with a drum brake. The difference is that bike used a rat trap springer, so maybe that was the difference...

    WANTED Cable housing frame clamps

I'm looking for a couple frame clamps that look like the picture below, for a 3/4" tube. Inside distance across is roughly 18mm.

When I was showing the owner the pictures I was showing you of the lights, asking his opinion, I didn’t realize the sissy bar was in the background. I was going to reveal that at the end as a surprise, but the cat is out of the bag. Mark Stephens is a fabricator in the muscle bike community...

Voting is closed. I’m trying to force myself to like them, but they are too big. So… I’m getting some smaller ones like I’ve used before.

Still trying to get used to the size of these lights to see if I like them. They are bigger than I had envisioned, so the stick farther forward than I had envisioned. Maybe they are just too big for the proportion of the bike? Or maybe two is just one too many? I tried them high and low...

I’m bouncing some ideas around on what to do here, but I want to see if I hear a better one. The drum brake has to be secured to the fork so it doesn’t roll forward when engaged. I thought make I could tap a bolt hole, but mounting it through the spokes would be ridiculous. Some sort of...

    MBBO BAD INFLUENCE!

It may that the curve is just tighter. These were scraps after all.

Pondo posted a stance pic. It’s premature, but his pics made me want to see this bike on its wheels since I haven’t ever seen a Barracuda with a drag fork before. I learned that I need to shorten the kickstand by an inch. @Pondo i built these forks off a Rail frame , but even with the...

Good catch. I thought you meant at the rim. Anyway, you are right. These are 14 gauge spokes. I think the hub was bored for 12g. So there is a little room in the spoke hole. Not so much room that it would require a washer because the spoke head still has plenty to grab.

    MBBO BAD INFLUENCE!

if you pull the fork blades down a bit it’ll pick the frame up a little at the front, but it will pick the curve of the legs up and have the blades that hold the wheel more horizontal to the ground. Originals were nearly parallel. I try to achieve that but often I’m off a bit. Anyway, it’s...

I’m trying something new: 16 x 2.125. I’m going to shave the sides and add RWL’s.

I got the rear fender back too. Drilled out the rivets that mounted this bracket to the fender so it could be stripped. Now I’m using fender bolts to install it. They are a bit long so I’ll have to do something about that later. I mounted it and put in the wheel… I left the tab too long...

Ok, lots to catch up on. It broke over 100 degrees today, so it’s time to take a break. First, before the front wheel dilemma, I got the front fender back from stripping. Here’s where the holes were filled in. It’s a cheap “low rider” fender, and low rider is even stamped into the metal...
