Love it! All of the polishing is incredible! Great bike and great pics! Congrats!

Thank you! Thanks, I'll do that! My whole kit would fit inside Bohnam's kick! :21: The '62 WFL sounds like a nice one. I've never used my Jazz kit for recording but I have used that Supraphonic snare in the studio before. :)
  5. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

This is as close as I could get!

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

Thanks! Charlie has not seen it yet. I did text him a picture of his membership certification in the Troopers Club though. He responded with "cool".

Patina matching. 70 years took care of the fender and tank patina. The frame and fork patina is about 24 hours old.

More corrugated metal wall shots. I took a handful of these this morning to have as a backup for the final vote picture in case I couldn't get any others later.

These are just adhesive so I can remove them later. Other times I will make stencils and paint them with spray paint. It seems to work pretty well.

I copied the tire graphics from the embossed pedals.
  11. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

Thanks! The tires and wheels were my surprise that I've been holding back! This was not a complete bike when I got it to restore, so I put a few of my own parts with it to make it as 'custom' as I could get by with. After the build-off it will come back apart and will eventually be put together...
  12. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

After two months I have yet to have the whole bike together until this morning. So with less than 48 hours on the clock, here is the completed Hops and Gnarly!
  13. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

It first appeared in the build-off a few years ago on my X-53.

I have the original light but couldn't resist this steer head fender ornament mimicking the handlebars!

I still don't have a durable solution for chrome patina, but this quick application looks good. A light rust was all that I wanted. This was fresh new chrome when I started. I sprayed a light coat of rattle can clear and after it dried I went over it with wood stain. The big drawback is...

Yep, I've been a Ludwig guy all the way back to my Drum Corps days! This one is a 1969 jazz 12/14/18. You'd be surprised by the sound from the little 18" kick! It's my favorite kit out of all that I have.
  17. The Renaissance Man

    UNLIMITED Hackarosa

That looks so cool! Sorry to hear about the frame issue but it sounds like you have a plan.
