    Eds finds

Got the bike repacked and put back together. Replaced the grip shifter with a trigger shifter. Replaced the brake pads, cables and housings. Replaced the shift cable and housing. Found a seat and grips I like, but had already done white cable housings so I plan on changing those to black. Just...

Thanks. I'm bummed the parts are late. Tracking number says they will be here today so hopefully I'll get it road ready this afternoon. The paint turned out better then I thought it would. I'm going to order some new specialized decals for it and I'll be having a custom head badge decal made as...

    ORBO Tail Gunner

I mocked the tail back up with the rear suspension in place. I was able to replace the 20" wheel with a 26" wheel and the V-brakes will work on the suspension stays. Found an old sidewalk bike mock tank convertible bar that fit and perfectly continues the added suspension stays line. I needed...

If your asking about the rings on the front of the brake arms those are the pegs the arms rotate on. I just haven't put the allen head retainer bolts in yet. I'm waiting until I am finished. I painted the bolt heads and don't want to chip the paint putting them on and taking them off a bunch times.

Started painting yesterday evening. Decided to match the bike to the seats color scheme. Finished the forks and handlebars. Frame has been sanded and primer applied. About to wet sand it and then taping it off. New brake pads, cables and housings will be delivered tomorrow. I'm waiting a couple...

    ORBO Tail Gunner

Decided to build a rear suspension for Tail Gunner. Started the mock-up. Planning on replacing the 20" well with a 24" maybe a 26" depending on fitment.

    ORBO Tail Gunner

Hard to say, I got the bike in that condition. I'm betting poor or zero maintenance for the life of the bike until I got it. The kickstand was duct taped to the frame, seat was completely duct taped and the amount of dirt and dust caked WD-40 suggested the chain was probably binding up on the...

    ORBO Tail Gunner

The front half is almost complete, just have fender work, tire swap and some adjustments on the rear disc brake caliper mount. The back half is getting stripped down this evening and prepped for paint later this week.

Waiting for the paint and the rest of my parts to show up. Started sanding the frame and the forks down. Hopeing to have everything paint ready by Wednesday when the paint arrives.

How do I clean/restore white hand grips.

I have a bunch of white hand grips, I'm assuming a few different materials, definitely different ages that are at best, dirty and at worse stained and a few that seem to have lost or are losing their elasticity. I'm looking for suggestions on how to brighten them back up. Thanks. These are a...

What have you been riding lately?

The front fender has what's left of the ornament pictured below and I can only find it on a couple pictures of the Sonic Flight online and a repop ornament on eBay for a Sonic Flight. But that could have been added later as well. Mine has a different rear fender then this one and both should...

What have you been riding lately?

Swapped the wheels and seat off the brown girls Hiawatha and rode the 1947 Monark to work this morning. I'll be looking for correct wheels for this as well as parts or replacement for the headlight and new horn guts. And it needs a new rear rack, one side of the front mounting bracket is broken...

    Homemade triple tree springer fork.

I like that. Practical and looks good. And I'm pretty sure I have everything I'd need. Grabbed a piece of 5/8" thick aluminum that I'm going to use to replace both the existing top and bottom plates. That way I'll eliminate the bracket/s all together. Definitely will be much more solid and cut...

    Homemade triple tree springer fork.

Once I fabricate a stronger top plate connecting bracket/brace I'm going to try find some stiffer springs or shocks instead. With the wheel so far it front of the springs it don't take much to bottom out those springs. Other then that I like them.

That bike is what I believe my black bike I just put the springer forks on might be. No helpful info from the serial number, no head badge and can't make out the faint remnants of the chaingard stencil. Only info the serial number yielded was that it was built anywhere between 1959 and 1963.

    Homemade triple tree springer fork.

Took it down the road about a half mile. And it definitely needs a much heavier top spring connecting bracket/brace and I'll be adding one to the bottom plate as well. And I'll be putting it on a different frame, this one is a bit to light and almost too fragile for this heavy of a front end...

    Homemade triple tree springer fork.

Got it installed. Works pretty good. Still have to mount a caliper mount and caliper for the front wheel and still need a different seat for it.

What have you been riding lately?

Took the Warrior to work today. It sits higher then I'm used to and I like that, unless I forget to lean the bike to one side when I stop. Top bar stands about 1 inch higher then the bottom of the zipper on my jeans. Probably going to put an old school BMX pad on it. Lol. On the way home this...
