Dang, the Kenda Smoke/Dart knockoffs really came up in price. I´m pretty sure i got mine for less thn $15/each a few years back. Like, $12 and some chance... Good tires but, like so many tires these days, they come in noticeably narrower than the 2.1¨ on the label....

Kenda makes $12/each knock offs of the Smoke/Dart combo. Same year pattern, budget casing. Seen smaller than I remember the originals. .Pana was offering them again a few years back (not sure if they still do), but they were pretty dang pricey, as I recall... But that was definitely a classic...

Easiest move would be to look at round tapered fork blades. Chain and seat stays might work, but they will tend to be smaller diameter and thinner walled than fork blades. I think stronger is better for bike forks whatever the design is, and for a new welder, thicker walls will be more...

The lower gears give better breaking, particularly of it is achieved with a big rear sprocket, as opposed to a small front. Better leverage. I built a 700c wheel for a Schwinn Super Sport with like a 15t rear sprocket... Breaking is underwhelming. I might swap it out for a bigger one, but I...
