Absolutely, the most common true 3/8¨ fronts are 26tpi. But, in this day and age, the most common front axle is M9x1, although i doubt highly that the OP´s 140spoke cruisr wheels are anything but 3/8¨. I just like to keep these things thorough, as a lot of folks do get to the RRB how-to forum...

That´s a great idea for the axle, but you´l want to verify that the new hub´s front axle is 3/8x26tpi. It probably is, but it pays to make sure before you order parts.

Probably be easiest to swap in a threaded headset? Are you absolutely certain it´s a 1¨ and not a 1.125¨?

Ie got some Schwalbe 26 with barely any tread, and some 700x45c Spesh tires that are truly slick/bald/etc.... doesn´t mean the regs don´t exist, but some companies have gotten away with flouting the regs a bit. Somebody oughta try it with 20, though. :grin: In the meantime, those Wise/Alula...

Yeah, they do.... but vintage Schwinn forks are worth a good bit of money, and they don´t make´m anymore, whereas hub axles are cheap, and they still make those in huge numbers. So, I´d definitely file 2 flats on the axle, rather than trying to enlarge the fork ends.

Most likely, your new hub will also be too wide between the dropouts to fit the fork without spreading the tines by brute force. You can do it, and most have, but i predict you´ll put a rad 26"BMX cruiser fork into that frame before long.... Welcome to RRB!

If you want a fat slick/semi-slick with cool details, it is tough to beat the BMX world for that kinda thing. Personally, I think the Cult Vans tires, with their inverted tread and available colour options (red-line w/whitewall, checkerboard stripes, in gum, black, or puke green colourways)...

+1. Thread files can save the day, in the hands of someone who know what s/heś doing. Otherwise, let us know what hub you have.... in most cases, a new axle is cheaper than the die required to fix the axle would be.

Yep. That's the ticket. Just beware of the undersized 9mm axle. I have been running one with a single freewheel fit ages, on- and off-road, and never had any problems

Sach's used a few different designs on their hubs and used different model names on them. Which one do you have? Is there a model name on the brakearm?

New ones retail for $589 base price, and go up from there, depending on options. The main thing that has changed on these, over the years, is the fork. Being that this is a current-production bike, it´s kinda hard for sellers to try to get premium prices for a roached&rusty vintage one...

I got the same bike, same vintage, same color, but in the 24"size frame. These are the sweetest riding frames.... so stiff and responsive! GLWS!!!

I think it's 25.8mm? A lot of factors could contribute to a stuck seat post. If I was in your situation, I'd use plenty of penetrating oil, and make sure I had a saddle installed on the post for leverage. Heat can help too. Once it's out, you can see what's up with it and work out a strategy. HTH
