    1940 Schwinn DX Klunker Build

Re: the Morrow hub--- reviewing the thread, it looks as though you had built the bike temporarily with the wheelset from your ´51- and you´re still waiting on the Velocity Cliffhangers- so I´m guessing you don´t have the morrow laced yet, and you haven´t ridden it yet? Your impressions are...

    Axle size for Schwinn Typhoon

Absolutely, the most common true 3/8¨ fronts are 26tpi. But, in this day and age, the most common front axle is M9x1, although i doubt highly that the OP´s 140spoke cruisr wheels are anything but 3/8¨. I just like to keep these things thorough, as a lot of folks do get to the RRB how-to forum...

    Axle size for Schwinn Typhoon

That´s a great idea for the axle, but you´l want to verify that the new hub´s front axle is 3/8x26tpi. It probably is, but it pays to make sure before you order parts.

1inch springer fork non threaded exist?

Probably be easiest to swap in a threaded headset? Are you absolutely certain it´s a 1¨ and not a 1.125¨?

Any Ideas On Where To Find Cool 20x2.125 Muscle Bike Tires

Ie got some Schwalbe 26 with barely any tread, and some 700x45c Spesh tires that are truly slick/bald/etc.... doesn´t mean the regs don´t exist, but some companies have gotten away with flouting the regs a bit. Somebody oughta try it with 20, though. In the meantime, those Wise/Alula...

    Axle size for Schwinn Typhoon

Yeah, they do.... but vintage Schwinn forks are worth a good bit of money, and they don´t make´m anymore, whereas hub axles are cheap, and they still make those in huge numbers. So, I´d definitely file 2 flats on the axle, rather than trying to enlarge the fork ends.

    Axle size for Schwinn Typhoon

Most likely, your new hub will also be too wide between the dropouts to fit the fork without spreading the tines by brute force. You can do it, and most have, but i predict you´ll put a rad 26"BMX cruiser fork into that frame before long.... Welcome to RRB!

Any Ideas On Where To Find Cool 20x2.125 Muscle Bike Tires

If you want a fat slick/semi-slick with cool details, it is tough to beat the BMX world for that kinda thing. Personally, I think the Cult Vans tires, with their inverted tread and available colour options (red-line w/whitewall, checkerboard stripes, in gum, black, or puke green colourways)...

    Spring fork alignment anybody?

The steps I would usually take for correcting a springer fork are as follows: 1- remove the wheel from the springer. 2- remove the stem and headset, so you can remove the springer from the frame. 3- Take some pictures and list the fork in the ¨for sale¨ forum 4- Put the springer in a box and...

    Fixie Slayer (done)

This looks like it´s going to be a fun rider. That´s a cool old Moby; I really like the understated short-point lugs. Salsa quill stems are rockin´; I bet your Motobecane is meant to take the French-spec 22.0 stem and the PO crammed the 22.2 Salsa jawn into the steerer anyway. Might´ve been...

    26x2.35 Brick tread

Yep. No problem. The Schwalbe word for that is "Reflex"

Yep, and you can get´m even cheaper if you buy direct from Schwlbe USAś site. https://www.schwalbetires.com/bike_tires/road_tires/fat_frank

    Recommend a Thread Restoration Kit

+1. Thread files can save the day, in the hands of someone who know what s/heś doing. Otherwise, let us know what hub you have.... in most cases, a new axle is cheaper than the die required to fix the axle would be.

can anyone give me an average price for a 26 inch 5 speed drum brake rear wheel?

Yep. That's the ticket. Just beware of the undersized 9mm axle. I have been running one with a single freewheel fit ages, on- and off-road, and never had any problems

    Need a little bearing help

Sach's used a few different designs on their hubs and used different model names on them. Which one do you have? Is there a model name on the brakearm?

    Workman Cycletruck

New ones retail for $589 base price, and go up from there, depending on options. The main thing that has changed on these, over the years, is the fork. Being that this is a current-production bike, it´s kinda hard for sellers to try to get premium prices for a roached&rusty vintage one...

SOLD 1972 Schwinn Super Sport - Handbuilt Frame

I got the same bike, same vintage, same color, but in the 24"size frame. These are the sweetest riding frames.... so stiff and responsive! GLWS!!!

80's earth cruiser seat tube/post size

I think it's 25.8mm? A lot of factors could contribute to a stuck seat post. If I was in your situation, I'd use plenty of penetrating oil, and make sure I had a saddle installed on the post for leverage. Heat can help too. Once it's out, you can see what's up with it and work out a strategy. HTH

Any threads about adding gears to a bike?

The gearing challenge with the Patterson and try the IGHs is that the smallest sprocket offered for the crank is the 28, which comes standard. There are optional larger sprockets, but nothing smaller. Because most IGHs are meant to run a minimum 2:1 direct drive ratio, you"re stuck with a 14t...

    PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION

My name is Rob, and I´m 40 years old. I like to ride bikes, always have, and my favorite bikes tend to be steel. I´m also, in many ways, a Luddite. I don´t like false ¨progress¨ that´s being promoted for its own sake; i´m not into the new ¨standards¨ that seem to be designed expressly to...
