Just another 26" Schwinn Cruiser Build

And also bead blasted the forks. If you look close you can see silicon bronze spot on fork, great filler for blemishes on steel. Cherried out the drop outs also. Frame is next!

Just another 26" Schwinn Cruiser Build

Stayed after work to get some stuff done on frame and fork. Cut fender tabs on forks off and brazen up s few blemishes, ran some Emory around the tubes to make they are dialed. Why do my pictures rotate when I upload them? They are fine in my library. Before I upload them I need to rotate them...

Just another 26" Schwinn Cruiser Build

Serial number is on rear drop out, tried to look it up but couldn't find anything on line. This is suppose to be a simple basic build, we all know how that goes! Lol

Just another 26" Schwinn Cruiser Build

Got this at a yard sale on my to work, $20.00. Didn't need it, thought I could pass onto someone who needed a cruiser for when all of our friends go camping. Thought tires, grips, a quick clean up, good to go. Had no takers, with exception, my wife and 13 year old son liked it. He currently...

    26" Beach Cruiser Strandie Build

Here is a picture of almost completed. My plan was to run modern v-brakes using the machined aluminum adaptors from pork Chop BMX. First I had to make shims, since the ID of the adaptors is .750", and the Schwinn seat stays are .500", after making the shims out of .125" aluminum tubing, cutting...

    F° 451...still building

Really cool build, I'm with Jimk, it looked so open and airy without the scrolling, and it allowed the top tube to be the focal point. Either way, gonna be cool!

    26" Beach Cruiser Strandie Build

Thanks! The blue one is a 1981 that my father in law bought brand new. It was sitting on their property, I brought it home and stored it for awhile before I started working on it. He upgraded when he bought to the Tange forks. I added the Cebe stem, the bars are S&M Hudky bars, I swapped out to...

Single speed versus 5 speed drop out spacing?

I wound a 1980 Schwinn Cruiser, that was originally a 5 speed, but in its life it was converted to a single speed coaster brake, before I pull the trigger on it, I was just wondering if it would be a mistake to buy it. I don't plan on turning it back into a 5 speed, want to keep it a coaster...

    26" Beach Cruiser Strandie Build

Funny, not my style of build either, but I know my buddy will dig it, and I actually had a great time building it, allowed me to go a little crazy, which is not typically me! LOL

    26" Beach Cruiser Strandie Build

Some more progress on the 1980's Vans themed cruiser build! All that's left are brakes. A little over the top, but I think he will dig it!

Single speed versus 5 speed drop out spacing?

In stead of dishing the wheel , could I run spacers between the bearing cone and jam nut to center the wheel? And thanks for the response!
