    Swap Meeting

John said that the first time he thought about bringing one of his bikes into the house to work on it - because it was hot in the garage but cool in the house - he had this feeling he was going to get in trouble for it. Then he thought "I've been divorced for 9 years now so I can do whatever I...

What do you call these Bars?

Okay, I will have to go with Art Geco's answer. Teeth wreckers. That one had me laughing out loud!!

    Swap Meeting

A couple of other comments on John. He said he loved the RRB site and used to go through it for hours at a time. He said he had finally "weened" himself down to only an hour or so a day now. The other thing he said is that he's single - and so he works on his bikes in his living...

My neighbor's finds - Schwinn and 2 German bikes

My neighbor, John, is into bikes now and spends his weekends hitting the local garage and estate sales looking for new finds. He cleans them up and resells them to make a few extra dollars - and does pretty good at finding a supply of bikes and getting them sold too. As with all of us, he...

    Swap Meeting

Uncle Stretch and I attended a bicycle swap meet that was held in Houston this past weekend. It was held in the parking lot of a fairly small restaurant / tamale place, but that turned out to be okay since there weren't a lot of sellers who showed up. It was on a busy corner, though, so we did...

    2 BLUE BIKES

Looks like those two might put your cleaning powers to the test!! Either some rat rodder flipped the handlebars on the ladies bike - or some little old lady with a hunched back had to had them flipped over that way so she could ride it!

    Roland Coral Cruiser

I bought mine used off of Craigslist, so I'm not sure what they would sell for new. If I remember right I paid maybe $40 for mine. Could have been $35 even. I actually just bought it for the wheels but then later found a 3 speed wheel set so that's when I put the Roland back together and...

    Roland Coral Cruiser

I bought a ladies Roland Coral cruiser at one time and then sold it later. Someone also had one they were working on for the last adult bike build off last year. Here is what mine looked like...

Define "Rat Rod Bike" in 30 words or less contest

Bought it used. Got a heck of a deal. Made it rideable. Love it.

    VOTE HERE

I have to say congratulations to all of the builders - no matter who ends up with what votes. As Steve mentioned, this originally started out as a fun build with no prizes and no voting. So just a chance to build a bike for the sake of building one and watch others as they went through their...

    Uncle Stretch's mini clone

Apparently we missed the deadline to get in on the voting, but I thought I would put this on the finished bike thread anyway. It was a fun build and we ended up selling the bike to some kid at one of the bike swap meets and he was really happy to have it. I told him it was one of a kind, so...

    Uses for old wheel reflectors

Yeah, I was pimpn' with all that new bling on. :D I was trying to figure out how to do a gang sign or something for the picture, but in my days the "gang" was made up of me and the other 4 guys in the neighborhood my age out playing football in the front yard or bike riding around the...

    Uses for old wheel reflectors

Okay, you guys had a great idea - so here you go. And if you like these they will soon be available on RRB - which in this case is Rat Rod Bling. Com - my new web site. Like father, like son!!

1984 MONGOOSE EXPERT BMX (Detailed! 5/04)

Re: 1984 MONGOOSE EXPERT BMX Your Haro sitting in the background looks like it's been through the cleaning routine too. You need to post some "after" pictures on that thread so we can see how that one turned out.

    murray cruiser

That's some heavy duty frame for a Murray. The cantilever bars are extra large compared to the whimppy ones I see on most Murrays. And yes, it has an unusual looking frame - especially the curved tubes on the back.

    Uses for old wheel reflectors

I bought a couple of old Murray bikes yesterday and they came with the old style reflectors on the wheels. The ones that were screwed on versus the newer ones that are help on with plastic snap buttons. When I removed them I remembered Paul (Uncle Stretch) wondering what you could do with them...

ELGIN MOTO X - (UPDATED 5-18 ALMOST DONE!)

Re: ELGIN MOTO X - (UPDATED 4-15) Kev, what happens to me occassionally is that I am in the process of creating a lengthy reply and at the same time someone else posts one. When you click on submit, it pops up with a screen saying that someone else posted something since you began creating...

    Chrome Cruizin

I checked and they are rivited together. No worries. I think I have another one laying around with 2 gears and no guard. Or what I may do is ditch the front derailer and shifter and just stick a nice looking single sprocket on it and make it a 5 speed. I usually only use 2 - maybe 3 - gears...

    Roadmaster Straight Bar Stretch

I told Paul his name was going to have to change from "Stretch" to "Rocket Man"! :D :D

    Chrome Cruizin

Great idea, Cman. That does draw a lot of attention. I will have to take a look at it. Hopefully it's just screwed on and not rivited.
