I just feel like the straight bar is a stronger design.

    Kinda like this.

I’m not going to weigh in on the mechanics of the build but let me speak on the aesthetics. I like themes and you’ve got this ladybug theme and I’m good with that, but I’ve never seen a lower frame plate on a bike that I’ve liked or has complimented the frame. Stick with the upper frame plate...

I love Porkchop, you made me go shop for parts I don’t need. Haha

This thing is mint. Forgot I am running an old Wright’s leather saddle. If I don’t have leather saddle oil/conditioner, what household item can I use on it?

Back to work tonight. My seat post was really tight, so I split a dowel, put some sandpaper in it, and chucked it in my drill to hone out the seat tube. Then I wanted an alloy seat post but didn’t have one that small, so I sacrificed a stem. Then shaped it up with a flap disk on the...

I find and recover stolen bikes in my town a few times a year, the problem is, 9 times out of 10 the person I recover it from was not the thief and knows no history on the bike, they just “acquired” it.

Here where I live, over half the bikes you see riding around are sprayed black, frame, bars, grips, tires, chain, chrome, everything, because they’re stolen. I’ve grown to hate it.

Looks amazing especially compared to the black spray bomb.

I wish I was starting with a frame like yours for my build.

I was cleaning the shop and touched the wire wheel to the fork and the paint just about jumped off, so I stripped it and painted it to match the frame.

Gumwall/tan wall tires are the way to go.

Hard to go wrong with OD green.

Now that the frame is all welded up, I sanded it, wiped with acetone, primered, and painted. Wanted a “vintage” color so I went with hunter green. Not sure yet if I’ll paint the fork the same or go black. Just waiting for paint to dry now.

The rear tire would not turn so I cut out the fender brackets and cut off the drop outs. Made my own cross braces from some tube and cut the drop outs off a BMX bike to replace the drops.

Okay, not sure where to start. When I thought about taking the JC Higgins off the market (had it for sale for around $120 and nobody was interested for months) and turning it into a klunker I knew I wanted to take the 2.4 wide knobbies off my full suspension bike and using them on it. I stole...
