    You sir, are my hero.

    THE BIRD. Flew the coop

Nice bike, shoes, and stuff. Sorry about the COPD, that sucks, it can help if you find your triggers and find things what help… I’m about the opposite of you, can’t go indoors, so many cleaning supplies, perfumes, cologne,… set me off. Stay home, or outdoors and I am better. Anyway I hope ya...

    Gallery of Bare Metal Bikes

Great stuff My naked bikes are my favorite. I always wonder about what’s going on under the paint. I get nervous. But with a bare bike, you know. They are honest and beautiful, and I feel like maintenance is easier. You may have to rub them down with oil now and then, but that’s as much fun...

Now I just need rear brakes, and the cables and levers and this is ready to roll. I’m making a bag to fit on the front rack, and have panniers that can clip on the rear. I also have a milk crate that can be cable tied on front. Not the prettiest things, but excellent for a quick shopping trip...

    Gravel bikes

Yep 17/20 Dingle cog and a 42 /45 (I think) set of chainrings. Loosen the axle bolts, switch, and roll. Takes about 2 minutes. I’ll take close up shots when I get home. With the Two speed freewheel it’s like having 4 bikes (once I have brakes)

    SHOW US YOUR WORKSMAN BICYCLE

Yea Put some black stripes on the pink and the yellow and rock it. Bring back that 1980s painting groove.

Yep. Those cheap things are so useful. Kids these days don’t understand the magic of a tiny bright rechargeable light. I’m going to get an led bulb to put in my generator powered 1980s light fixture. I’ll get the best of both worlds. I’m in Florida, about to drive to LA with my daughter. We...

    Saw my stolen bike yesterday!

Glad he got it back. It’s a cool build. When I was in college I had a backpack and books stolen. I was in the Union about a week later and saw some of my books on a table, I write my name in sharpie all over my stuff. I went over to the table that had a bunch of books on it, about half of...

Most of my rides are at night. I like a generator powered headlight because they are cool, and work even when I forget to charge them or change the batteries. Also, it’s kind of cool making my own power while I roll. A backup removable led light is nice for when stopped, or going for a walk. I...

What it needs now is: Springs for the brakes Pedal straps (maybe) Rear light and wiring A seat, a Persons Apollo would be my first choice, but maybe something more appropriate for the wet would be better. I may take the rear steel rack off of my Haro and put it on this. A couple little...

Bottom bracket dynamo, two chainrings and a Dingle in the back. Geared for rides with pavement or all dirt. Bull moose bars and one light on the front fork. I need to rig up a rear light and do the wiring, and get some springs so I can put the brakes together. Once I have brakes it it also...

I started this around the time I started Fixed Pain for the build off. That’s a bike to pretend I’m 12 on, this one will be for my nighttime joy rides and an occasional commuter/ errand bike.

    Gravel bikes

I need some springs (1, I have 3, but replacing all 4 would be a good idea) for the brakes, and pedal straps have been ordered. It still needs a seat, I’d love to put a Persons Apollo on it. Anyone have one? A brooks flyer is a second option. Fenders may be considered. After the rain today and...

    Gravel bikes

Made some progress today on my Swamp Flower gravel bike. Took it on a little ride too. This might just be my backup commuter for when the Haro is having a day off.

I didn’t think green bikes could go over 1 jiggawatt. But maybe with that cool chain ring the math changes.

    Protect a rusty bike

Yep. What he said. If you cut the first coat or two with turpentine or paint thinner it seems to soak in better and dry a bit quicker. I figure the more it penetrates into the places you can’t see, the better the final result on the surface will be.

"Nameless No More - Now MONOLITH!"

My daughter has an old 90s Hard Rock sport. She loves that bike. When I was fixing it up for her I rode it a bit. If I could find an old hard rock frame with horizontal dropouts I would grab it for making a fun single speed play bike.

    Fixed pain

A little bit of cleaning and some time with a felt pad and some polishing compound and this is almost ready for reassembly. the pitting on the spindle and faces is not bad, 90% or more will polish out The bearings look like a cratered moonscape so I’ll pack new ones in once the faces shine. I

    Fixed pain

There was a bit of play in the Bottom Bracket, got it out. will remove the rust and see if it is salvageable. Luckily I have a bag of bearings. somewhere…..
