    BO15 The Kwaka

Spent some time with a measuring tape and an angle duplicator thingy (don’t know the real name) mocking up again and forgot to photo it. Got the seat and head angle more correct which lays it back a bit more. Combine that with lifting the rear frame and it closes the gap and helps the clearance...

Like - but I might have to upgrade the brakes!

    BO15 Skidwell GTS

I’ve been looking around the internet’s about them. Seem to be an Australian design not made elsewhere. The Speedwell is the poor cousin to the Skidstar. There is a company in Melbourne (AUS) selling a new reproduction for $1200 ish and original Versoins I high 3 and low 4 figure prices...

It’s just sitting there for now, not connected or finalised. Yes, will probably need to change the shock mount as well as the wheel is a fair bit bigger than the original.

Some parts donors. Lucky enough the blue frame has an original chainguard and cranks to suit the GTS. Seems a shame to tear the blue one down, it’s in really good condition for its age but no one wants to buy it as is.

    BO15 Skidwell GTS

My Class One entry. I wasn’t going to so I could focus on Class 2, but this is meant to be an assembly project so I can work on something during noise restrictions (ie late at night or during Sunday morning sleep in time) A crusty Speedwell GTS, a bit of a collectors piece locally along with...

Got to choppin. The head tube was way too long for a 26” wheel fork. The rear frame is also too wide so it will be getting sectioned. I wanted to retain the centre stand for the motorcycle look this is also where the swingarm attaches. Welded up the swing arm, getting better at welding I...

    BO15 WAHA-SEDB-3 (TRIKE-TOR...2nd Place)

Just caught up on many pages of work. Love this build, especially showing what you can do without welding.

    BO15 RaTs GaSs...Great year all!...pg 26

Just catching up in Class one builds. My thoughts the front guard is a bit long in the back too. Maybe about 1/4 off it would help. Love the details OJ. Keen to see some paint.

    BO15 The Kwaka

Pulled the rear swing arm out. Needs about 60mm added. Decided the front of the existing frame wouldn’t suit so got some parts Got to chopping, need to get the hot spark gun out New front triangle started

Found a BB donor. Was kerbside pickup. I didn’t see how rusty it was until after it was home. Really only picked it up for the rim and BB. Put some measurements on the pic prior to cutting it up. See the gap between the chainstay and the seat tube, and the hole?

Sidetrack Space: Build Off Highlights and Chat.

I’ll be in the same boat there. I like making stuff. This forum helps me get to an end point instead of getting bored with a project and parking it.

It might do, moving the shock mounts further out might help. It’ll also have a fair bit less weight as the 6 lead acid batteries are out and will replace with lithium. So far it’s all in my head as a bunch of problems to solve - which is or probably where the motivation went the first time around.

    BO15 The Kwaka

Did some measuring this arvo. Will need to extend the chain stays or dropouts as the wheel is too big. Will need around 150mm. The cranks are a bit of an afterthought on these e- scooters. The are so wide it’s not funny, could probably fit a crankset in between the bearings here. I’ll have to...

After a false start last year..... This frame is going to get a chop or three and hopefully end up with 26” wheels, proper pedals and a motorcycle look

    Restarting a build acceptable?

Thanks. Pretty sure I will get it started. I’m keen to finish (start) a couple of bike projects and clear some space in the garage.

    Restarting a build acceptable?

Last years ambitious build didn’t go any further than tearing down the frame and relacing a wheel. The parts have been gathering dust since last year. http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-goose-late-swap-to-the-interceptor.108688/ Is rebooting this one for this years build off...

    Bike tools from Lidl

I have an Aldi stand, track pump and bought a tool kit when half price. Good value for money IMO. They seem similar to others of the same price. Probably come out fo the same factories, but with different stickers. A bit more specifically: the stand needed a bolt through the arm with the...

    Trek Y rescue

I’ve been doing some light scraping. The purple seems to be coming off quite easily. Have purple ‘glitter’ everywhere. So far it’s come off the curves well, but the bigger flatter sections are a bit harder.

Had a look at that thread. Might be borrowing the decal idea.
