It seems the copper paint has mellowed a bit with age. Looks a lot less pink now. Took it down to the bus stop to pick up my kid and the rear cog jumped off on the way back. Scraped toes and bruised knee - not fun, should have had proper shoes on. It had jumped off once before, then did it...

    Upper chain tensioner

Can you put a rear hub in there and run two cogs on it then run a double chain? Could change the ratio for better gearing by using different sized cogs. Edit: Scratch hat, I see a tyre in the way.

    Trek Y rescue

Hope its not stolen! Seems the first seller had attempted a poor paint removal job on the carbon. It looked pretty ratty which is why the quick spray job to tart it up. Same seller I bought another bike off that had been for sale on facebook a few days before and the bike had been given a quick...

    Trek Y rescue

Yes, the bike was thoroughly prepared for paint :13: Fortunately, thanks to poor prep and poor quality paint it isn’t taking much to remove.

    Crikey, a Trike-E

I rode this down to the bus stop to pick up my son a few times. Even hauled him home in the tray. Unfortunately it’s upside down in the garage and I’m trying to figure out how to change the rear axle bearings now. It was making an awful racket while riding which I thought was just the...

    Trek Y rescue

I’ve stripped it down and looked a bit more closely and found that it is a ‘97 Y-22. Originally thought it was a ‘96 because of the nude carbon look under the purple, parts told me otherwise. Appears the cranks, stem, bars, brake arms, saddle and rims aren’t original. The paint has come off the...

    Trek Y rescue

I have a Trek Y-11 from 96. It was my first dually, first carbon bike, first bike that cost way more than one should really spend on a bike. Recently spotted this on the local faceache marketplace for cheap so I had to have it. It had been listed by another seller for a week or so...

Love that paintwork. Especially the way the stripes flow through the chain guard.

    Weather Report

Rain! Real, proper, widespread, soaking, fire-extinguishing rain!

    Muscle Punk

My Steam Punk interpretation layered over a Muscle Bike. Unfortunately the weather has prevented the photo shoot so out the front of the garage it is. A basic modern muscle bike/dragster with some bits thrown at it. Budget build with no purchased parts, just some paint. - Removed stickers...

Last minute rush. Despite the 40oC and 90% humidity I spent a little time in the garage. Mounted a light on the forks using inspiration from above. Second light on the bars Inspiration from elsewhere and used a fork I found to hold the brake arm on. Mounted a ‘tank’ with dials, valve handles...

    Crikey. The Trike-E

Finished my Trike. All ready to get the groceries, or take a cooler of drinks to the local car show. Only minor tweaks from which original. Switched saddle, grips, tyres. Painted some artwork on the guards. Rebuilt the cargo basket to a box. Wired in a new battery. Build thread...

Thanks. I’m hoping they add to the steam-punk vibe. They were a late addition for the concept. Have added some paint to the guards and rims. Pics to come when installed. My plan to ‘borrow’ a bit of work time today was thwarted by a storm. Dropped a massive branch over the work shed and meant...

Hacked up a few mudguards (fenders) and added some bits. Just riveted on the cut off tails. I figured rivers work with the steam punk side of things. Added some body filler - roughly. It was nudging 40oC and the Fuller was going off really quickly so it’s not a flash job. Sanded it back a bit...

    Crikey, a Trike-E

Found a chain guard, gave it some paint... and done. Just need some final photos.

It might be a bit late as we are running out of time and you already have some brakes, but some of the higher end Shimano disc brakes have an adjustable angle inlet on the calliper. Here’s a pick of some SLX MTB brakes. Yu can see the silver fitting on the end of the hose

    Finished Build Threads are UP!

From the ‘rules’ post: https://countingdownto.com/?c=2659196 No idea what that means for you in local time though! For me it’s around 5pm on Feb 2.

    Crikey, a Trike-E

Refitted the mudguards. Was supposed to be a ghost flame effect, but got a bit heavy with the paint on the first one, so had to go full coat. Stands out a little better now though. Also switched out the black saddle for a brown leather one to match the grips. Grips needed a trim down to fit...

    Crikey, a Trike-E

Reverted to a two brake lever set up. Flipped the mirrors so they didn’t stick up so high. Got the whitewalls mounted. Will try to remove the logo from the rear tyres, I’m not keen on it for this one. Got the tray mounted, new battery fitted to the tray and the rear light done. Tray hinges...

    Muscle Punk.

It’s been a while since I’ve made any real progress, but now it’s tennis season and since it’s not my favourite to watch it’s into the workshop. Minor updates: fitted a bottle cage And started working with these:
