    Weather Report

Summer cyclones forming up in the tropics. Hopefully the weather people are right and we are going to get some of the predicted rain soon. Water restrictions up to level 2 from next week as storage levels are lowest in 25 years.

    Weather Report

It’s very dry here. I’m on the coast where we quite often get afternoon storms and summer is growing season. Normal summer routine is mowing the lawn once a week, at the most each fortnight or it’s too thick for the mower. Don’t think I’ve mowed since November, and even then it was just taking...

    Weather Report

Don’t know exactly where Luke is but I’m on the NSW coast. Smell of smoke is regular and there are plenty of local fires popping up on my fires near me app. Seems the NSW south coast has been worst hit, but I’ve been on holidays up the Mid North Coast for a week and haven’t really been...

    The K-RAT, 1969 ZZR Karat - FINISHED

Cool pedals. Did you try to line up the numbers or just random? I’m pretty sure I’d want it in some sort of pattern and be annoyed if I didn’t think of that before drilling.

Step 2: disassembled a cassette or two. A chain guard is supposed to protect you from the chain, but what if you at dozens of pointy teeth to one? Not complete yet, but it’s close to dinner time and too hot to be welding anymore. Needs a little more along the top to fill between the cogs. We...

The chain guard is a bit boring without the sticker. Let’s try something different. Stage 1: disassemble.

    Crikey, a Trike-E

Knocked up a new crate for the back from an old pallet. Need to work out latch for the tail gate as it currently won’t stay up given the angle. I just matched the dimensions to the existing rusty basket. Also contemplating whitewalls.

    Crikey, a Trike-E

Took a while, but I worked out that this 20” trike was eligible for the WBO. So with a stuttered start... Purchased a while back with the intention of getting it running and potentially using it as a shopping cart. Battery was no good and the front tyre was bald, but otherwise working and in...

Spied this on the weekend. Chainring light bracket. The light is Ponting down because the town style bike had just done a lap of a kids MTB race course as a sweeper. Bit rough for the old rigid forks. Might be borrowing that idea :)

There was a bit of a kerfuffle when Mambo first did that logo burn it has become their most recognised work. Initially it was a musical note, can be seen in the stickers on the floor. The flames seem to be a more modern variation I hadn’t seen before despite having the same bike a few years ago.

Mounting a fender to a fork suited to larger diameter wheel?

    II like that last method.

Second attempt with PVC worked better. Rather than risk grounds for separation by heating it in the oven decided the BBQ was fair game so fired it up closed the hood and cooked up a bit of pipe. Once warm I shaped it over a cardboard mould created by gluing a bunch of boxes together then...

I’ve spent a fair bit of time trying to get the e-kit working on the Pursuit. No dice yet.

Minor progress. Needed a break from trying to work out why an e-bike kit won’t work for http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/main-force-patrol.109786/ The stickers came off pretty easy. Mostly in one piece. THe adhesive, unfortunately, was more stubborn and pretty much ALL of it...

    Main Force Patrol

Gave the Interceptor’s new battery a good workout today. Took the kids to the park and pushed my littlest while on battery power most of the way home. Battery still going strong. The old one would go into an intermittent cut out after a couple of minutes of use, including on another bike. Happy...

As of this morning. Interceptor is running but needs cosmetics. Pursuit has a tangle of wires in trying to figure out. Trying to get a decent wiring diagram out of the controller seller isn’t working out well.

Mounting a fender to a fork suited to larger diameter wheel?

Thanks all, plenty of food for thought. The rear brace is still on there, just out of the (bad) photo. Will have a play at some stage.

Continuing from my attempted Build Off 14 bikes where I missed the deadline. Class 1: Pursuit model http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/mfp-pursuit-missed-the-deadline.108798 Class 2: Interceptor...

Mounting a fender to a fork suited to larger diameter wheel?

the bike I had as a kid got a renew a little while ago. During the rebuild I replaced the bent forks, then when I popped the 20” wheel in it appears the forks were for either 24 or 26”. How can I attach a fender to the fork, close to the wheel when the brake hole is too far away? Ideally I’d...

Oops. Pics aren’t on my phone, mustn’t have taken any yet. I’ll have to grab some in the morning. Step one: remove stickers.
