MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

I’ve been a bit slack so progress is slow Was trying to work out how to fix the shock to the second fork. The diameter of ge shaft was pretty close to 1”, then I noticed the base of the steerer tube was fatter. Lopped off the steerer, bored out the remaining tube a bit trimmed down the shock...

Yeah. Fat free in a product like that invariably means more sugar.

What made you switch? I was really digging the vibe on the Mud Rat. Still, this is looking like a good start too.

The Goose - late swap to the INTERCEPTOR

Progress has been slow, but I received the spike and have rebuilt the electric hub to a 26” rim. I’d hate to have got a flat on the original wheel, I couldn’t get the tyre off so ended up cutting the spikes to get hw hub out rather than undoing them. Then again, the tyre is pretty heavy so...

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

A little more progress. One unexpected advantage of the frame swap is that the headtube is shorter so the fork steerer is long enough. Managed to rough cut some plate to shape for the springer bits then tried it on for size. So far so good.

    Weather Report

Of course it is Celsius. I have no concept of how Fahrenheit works for weather temps! It’s all what you are used to. Winter days here are normally pleasant and can often be t shirt weather. Mornings go as low a 5C but 10c is more normal.

    Weather Report

Winter is here. Last week has been mid 20s during the day with mornings that you think about putting a jumper on, but if working don’t need it. This afternoon a cold front hit and we dropped to 10 degrees and had gale force winds. Locally, that’s proper winter, not a nice ‘ease into it’

The Goose - late swap to the INTERCEPTOR

I really need to get a move on with this. I’ve ordered spokes to convert the rear wheel to 26”, but not much else. The coffee table is finished though! All materials recycled from a house renovation. Vintage door, hardwood studs and copper pipe.

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

Thanks Carl. I wasn’t keen on adding a rack, it’s all about style! I found a solution to the battery problem. Frame swap (hopefully that isn’t infringing upon the rules). Other than disassembling and then mock-up I haven’t touched the first frame. I almost tripped over the solution on the floor...

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

More mocking, but not significant progress. I’ve trimmed down the guards to what I think will work. Might shorten the back a little more. Also changed the bars over and found some forks - that have short steerers unfortunately. And the battery won’t fit in the frame. Does cutting the canti bars...

    Spring Spare Time

Forks are looking good. I’m hoping to do something similar with my build.

    LITTLE TOAD! RRBBO#14 Class 2. I'm out. :(

What does the tyre shop say when you rock up with a rim like that?

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

Not a lot of actual progress, but I’ve decided on using the e-bike kit. That also means working out some brakes for the forks and using a disc brake on the back. Little internetting today and it seems feasible. Off to the community bike centre tomorrow to scrounge some parts.

Agree. Wish I had half your welding skill.

AlumiNaughty: 1935 Wards Hawthorne Duralium, Finished!

For me, the fenders look too long. I’d be aiming for around 60degrees in the front and 100 on the back to shorten them up. - but that’s my taste and I’ll probably make my fenders like that.

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

Thanks. I have a battery etc. picked up an incomplete conversion with bike for $250 last week. Spent a few ‘off build off’ hours removing the e-gear and putting the bike back together. Sold the bike this morning for $190 so I have a hub motor, battery and controls for $60. Just needs a charger...

MFP Pursuit - missed the deadline

Phase one. Strip and mock. Hmmm. Strip two bicycle frames down, then use parts to mock up and assess stance. Looks ok. Proceed to phase 2. Think I’ll need to try some other bars. I’m also considering a rear hub motor for a little extra ‘pursuit’ motion. Just not sure the battery will fit in the...

    E-Ruckus

Thought as much. I’m sure the local police are similar. If you are doing anything that looks outside the rules they probably won’t care. Round here there is a $400ish fine for not wearing a helmet on a bike but they don’t seem to bother with that much either. Just if you get caught on an illegal...
