Guessing you might be a day late on this one.

These bikes keep following me home, continued

Lest week it was all European bikes...the three above and the Royce Union, and a Raleigh. This week it's all American The SuperV SL is complete and both the shock and fork are functioning well. A bath, a tube, and a couple cables and she's done. The Gary Fisher just needs a flat repair and...

Need some help with new fork

If it is designed for the rockers to be outside the legs, the caliper spacing will go wrong by the thickness of the drop-out when moving them inboard. I suppose installing the calipers either way might answer some questions about how it goes together.

    A nice gift...Royce Union

This one had belonged to my brother in law's dad before he passed. It looks like it had been well cared for while it was in use. Any damage probably came from the moving van or the storage container...the front caliper is bent like the cable had caught in something, bent fender stays...that sort...

    Black and Tan B*S*A .... done !

the dramatic photo.... First ride today and I really like this thing, The wheels run smooth, and the hub shifts and brahes as it should. The saddle will need to break in for me so that will get a quick oil treatment to soften up. The one issue is that I need to change out the crankset as the...

It's about keeping the cadence right for me. Sure I can push the big gear at 30rpm to make my way slowly down Main Street but it will feel all wrong to me. Low gear is good for any time the speed comes down, not just when the terrain forces it on me.

    Black and Tan B*S*A .... done !

Hard to remember where I left off...I think I was at "less is more", right? I picked up a 1980 Raleigh 3 speed with coaster brake to give up the wheel set. I'll set it up with the caliper brakes and some wheels and flip it right out. So...no brake cables, a good clean look. That's the right...

Our newest member here has launched a new bicycle blog site and is looking for feedback. I assure you there's no one here ( or anywhere!? ) that knows more about klunkers or the earliest mountain bikes than Repack Rider, and he's always been helpful answering questions. If you're into the...

    Does anybody know...

I read the "Rough Stuff Fellowship" piece yesterday and flipped a couple pages. It all runs nice and quick. After reading your inquiry here I went back to register and was weeded out as a suspected bot.

Need some help with new fork

FWIW I had linked this thread to get opinions from the mountain bikers, and the consensus is that Monarch has screwed up on this. "Huge rotor mount? "...they have no idea. I can't imagine how many million disc hubs and mountain bike forks have been manufactured correctly according to the same...

    Black and Tan B*S*A .... done !

So, with the parts stripped I was able to clean and wax the frame. I'm well pleased with the result. Not a lot of pic.s from the parts swap as it only took about 90 minutes. I'll be waiting a couple more days for tires. I've also decided to not mess about with the 3 speed but will bring...

    Strava Groups for old bikes?

I'd like to join your club please? I mostly quit using Strava after the hip replacements. It was just sort of depressing quantifying how I wasn't getting better. I'm far enough removed from that now. I used to fight it out on the leader boards and it gained me nothing. I'm ready to be a champion...
