    2.0 for 1.75?

I got some big tires on the Firebolt, but it did take some working over. The screws I used for the fender braces got filed down flat inside. I also had to shorten the chain with a half-link to get the rear wheel centered fore-aft in the fender.

@HammerMechanic, You still going to finish the green and white Monarch? Me and Dizzle P are ready to divvy up the GRAND PRIZE if you're not coming along.

    Twisted Huffy crank

That might be a two edged sword. If they bend easy to repair, they will probably bend easy to fail (again) . I'd definitely question the reliability and safety of the part for anything more than a gentle cruise. If you're building a bike that a kid might ride hard, you should probably find a...

The anti-klunk? (Show us your urban bombers!)

I'll drop this here, a thread started years ago on MTBR about classic mountain bikes as utilitarian run-abouts. What makes the "Blue Collar Classics" thread super interesting is that the OP, user name RepackRider, is klunker/ mountain bike pioneer (and historian) Charlie Kelly. The first post...

I just landed a Redline Monocog Flight in a trade and was able to score some parts at the swap meet yesterday to give it a bmx cruiser look. There are a handful of modern mountain bikes that I've always wanted to own but couldn't justify it at the time. The Monocog is one of them. Red...

    ROAD BIKES LETS SEE EM

My mid 80's (Japanese) Bianchi. Maybe the best $25 I've ever spent. Not very high quality, but very much like the bike I rode when I fell in love with cycling. I've gotten some fresh gumwalls and white leather Christophe straps on there to dress her pretty.

    Miss Firebolt

She's very happy, but there will be an adjustment period for her. She's spent all her time on aggressive nimble trail bikes these past 20 years. There was a thrilling moment learning about coaster brakes again, but after that it was all smiles. The bell has a charming ring to it, and rolling on...

    Miss Firebolt

If there's such a place as "built, but not finished", that's exactly where we are. I had all the mechanical put together a running as it should on the stand, but my wife took her out for a test ride up the street today. It is in fact a working bicycle...shifting, stopping, steering...and all...

I might be in love! Looks like it can run Gates drive from the web site. When can I have one?

24" Electra wheels spokes keep breaking

Spoke lengths and gauge are precise so you'll want to bring a sample to match up to. Spokes might even be different on the rear for the drive side and non drive side. If the rest of the spokes could be compromised the way the broken ones have been, the integrity on the whole wheel build is...

20 x 2.30 tire... special rim? or tube?

Mountain bike scene has been obsessed with this sort of stuff for a while. The long and the short of it is you'll be fine. Under heavy load or riding aggressively you might get a bit of lateral tire roll, but I can't imagine the bead coming unseated. I've run folding 2.35 Kevlar bead tires set...

24" Electra wheels spokes keep breaking

If I'm honest, I'd probably just blame the kids. I wish I lived in Hawaii. Edit...are they snapping at the nipple or the j-bend?

    Gearing up front pedal trike

You can attack the problem from the other side...clipless pedals and work on cadence. Do you ever do "training rides" on the drifter? You could also look at a hand-cycle conversion?

Old and new for Miss Firebolt. Late 70's ? Shimano 3 speed thumb shifter and NOS Shimano cable. I always think new drivetrain parts are beautiful.
