Fairborn Ohio Bicycle Show and Swap meet

I also have a nice set of Wheelmaster 24" wheels with heavy duty spokes. I bet they have less than 2 miles on them. The same wheels on Grumpy.

Fairborn Ohio Bicycle Show and Swap meet

Just a few days away. All you locals or semi-locals need to get out and support this one. It was a great show last year. I'll have a bunch of parts and a couple of cool projects. Western Flyer Columbia Newsboy ballooner....seriously, you never see the ballooner versions for sale. Basically you...

    Wheels

Yeah, I have seen that one. It has the floating hub.....a seriously cool hub design. I've seen two of these models with the floating front and two with the ND hubs. Not sure if it was an option or what. Either way, that is nice!

    Wheels

Yeah, that was quite the conundrum. Spent as much time thinking that through as I did lacing up the wheels. The other way he is backwards when sitting still. I figure while pedalling, you can't really see him

    Wheels

Thanks! It isn't the most high dollar Firestone badged bike but is one of the harder ones to find...I am pretty happy with it. My bucket list is to own one of every style Firestone ballooner. I figure its a fun hunt even if it takes me 20 years!

    Wheels

Not a bike build, but a wheel build. The rims on my '41 Firestone were a little crusty, so I swapped the hubs to another set of rims that I had on the shelf. Since the bike is a "Pilot", I thought the Snoopy valve caps were a nice touch. Before After

Columbia middleweight tank for a Newsboy?

There is a pic of the whole bike in my gallery link in my signature

Whats good about Fatbikes, Your thoughts?

My thoughts? I can't see the attraction to the fat tire cruisers. I mean they are cool looking, but short of that, I don't care for the ride. That's me and I am one opinion....different strokes as they say. As far as off road fat tire mountain bikes, I am considering a Surly or something along...

Columbia middleweight tank for a Newsboy?

:DI fixed it so it made more sense! $40 was how much for the middleweight with tank!

Columbia middleweight tank for a Newsboy?

Actually it was in super nice shape. Same frame with the built in rack. Original paint, trusses, etc. I would say an 8/10. I was somewhat interested till he said he wanted $600 for it. Just can't see that money for a 60s Columbia. Actually this tank sort of matches the mismatched patina look...

Columbia middleweight tank for a Newsboy?

I was at Ann Arbor walking around. Wasn't finding anything too special and happened to see this pathetic looking Columbia middleweight. No fenders, mismatched wheels, house paint, cruiser seat, rust....and a pretty interesting looking tank. A guy a couple of spaces down had a ballooner Columbia...

    Monark Cruiser year?

I am cleaning up my latest project and was wondering if anyone knew the year on this Monark built Firestone Cruiser. I believe since it has a 7 digit serial number, it is at least a 1952...assuming the leading "0" counts as a digit. Serial number is 0172024 Thanks in advance....

    En Fuego

Woohoo...I worked on my BoNine bike yesterday! I removed the cups AND I removed the headbadge! I didn't get any pics of the progress because it happened pretty quick. Hoping to blast it this weekend! I think I have decided on a mostly bare metal build with some lime green and black thrown in.

    ROAD BIKES LETS SEE EM

That is a nice Ritchey. I just upgraded my carbon Specialized to 11spd, although I went with the Ultegra group. That is an impressive weight for a steel bike.

    En Fuego

Thanks for the good comments. I wish I had some progress to post. Been on call all weekend. I cleaned out the garage, the shed and the basement. Moved a giant woodpile....Got my mountain bike ready for the season...and my build off is still sitting patiently under the workbench. I plan to get it...

    very cool hawthorn find

Some of them had reflectors. They are commonly called parade struts. I have a set on my 41 Firestone. They usually run $40-50.

    HellCamino

Nice concept and I know you'll nail it. Really like the starting point too.
