    ohio get togethers ?

We had a show in Dayton at Links and Kinks bike shop this past summer. We had a great turnout. We've also done some rides. I've been meaning to "get organized", but something always gets in the way. Stay tuned as the plan is for a 2014 spring show.

    Frame, bars and stem

Just curious if anyone knows what this frame is? Looks like it had an oval badge at one time. It fits a 28" or a 26". Also, wondering what you guys think these grips, bars and stem are worth? I'm cleaning out some stuff and thought I might as well take advantage of the "Valuation" forum!

A rusty pile and a nice survivor!

Nice on the Firestone. Mine is a '64 as well! Congrats..... Btw...mine had Firestone Speed Cusion whitewalls on it when I found it. If you decide to sell and the price is right, let me know. Might be cool to have a matching set.

Need Help - I.D. This Chainguard

That's funny man...I think that is the same chainguard I asked about a couple of days ago! viewtopic.php?f=62&t=78330

    Elgin Falcon

This is the kind of project I am looking for. Something cool and not "run of the mill"....at a reasonable price. Super nice bike. One of my favorite new finds...along with Double Nickle's Colson!

    Help ID Bike - Motorbike?

Frame and fork look identical to my old '36 Roadmster, however I thought 36/37 had a unique chainring with slightly smaller teardrops. My guess on this one is maybe '39. Here is a pic of the '36 chainring

    Chainguard and rack ID

Thanks so far. I'll get a better pic of the rack when I get home. Interesting that what caught my eye on this pile of parts was the guard. I did see another Shelby pic with a similar guard, but it was a major rat bike, so no way of knowing if it is Shelby or not.

    Chainguard and rack ID

I posted this Shelby in the Fresh Finds, but I am guessing that the rear rack is not correct for the bike and I am wondering about the chainguard. I have seen several cool variations of Shelby chainguards, but I am not familiar with this one.

    Memory Lane Finds

I hadn't bought a bike since the Firestone Super Cruiser back in the spring. Things have been crazy busy over the summer and my vintage bike hobby took a back seat....I ran up to the Memory Lane show today and picked up a few projects. I also picked up parts of a donor fork with nicer chrome. I...

    Help with JC Higgins!!

I just asked the Magic 8 Ball if your bike is a Higgins and it said "ask again later". I'll keep you posted. Seriously though...If you could post some pictures and a serial number, I am sure folks would be more than happy to help you out.

    ~1984 Guerciotti..... a what??

Very nice...looks tall! Like others have said, a chrome lugged fork would be nice. I'm thinking about building up a nice steel Merckx or Colnago over the winter. I have a steel Salsa touring/adventure bike. As much as I like my carbon bikes, there is something about steel....

I called myself a bicycle mechanic the other day...

Yeah, me too....especially when I was single...

    Frame widening question

I have always kept the hub in the dropouts and then spread up by the crank shell. The dropout spacing/alignment need to remain consistent. By doing it that way, it really only widens the frame up where the tire tracks. (which I assume is what you are after).

    Frame widening question

Have you seen ndaway's video on spreading a frame? Do a search and see what you can find. I don't have the link handy, but I followed his video with great results. Basically it seems to be the same as what you are doing, but the "spreader" is up by the crank rather than back by the hub. Just be...

    Columbia Push Button Bell Tank

The front of the tank on a girl’s bike slopes more forward than the boys due to the sloping top tube on a girl’s frame. I’ve thought about using that “style” tank on my balloon tire Newsboy project. I think the boy’s version would work. I’ll be curious to see how yours fits when you get it...

    Woohoo!! Finally got my Elgin

Awesome looking Elgin! Congrats on a cool bike! I've been told that my Elgin frame is a '28. It has the same diamond pattern on the seat tube that you have and also the same badge. My crank was slightly different though. I do agree you are in the late 20s/early 30s. When I got it... Today

    Pittsburgh September swap

I think I'll come over for this one! I've been selling and I think it is about time to get a new old bike. Hopefully someone will have a nice Firestone.
