    (ORBO) klunk-fast finished

i was going to clean the bike up real nice, but decided to leave all the snow and dirt and grim on it for the finished photos. after all, that's what this ride was made for!! glad it is done. the bike rides great. handles the snow and ice great. cant wait to get it on the dirt track...

gave up on the loose bearings in the bb...for now anyways. did go from a 9 bearing cage to a 10 cage. also traded for some schwinn blade forks. it was warm enough to paint today so i got em finished and installed. took it for a long ride on the omaha snowy, icy streets. rode great! it is done...

after a second look, i realized the dust cover was rubbing. quick switcheroo and assemble and test ride. works great! i did this because i was bored and also because i bent a bb bearing case about 10 years ago. was ridding a cheap, china built schwinn legacy. i stood and cranked hard and the bb...

well its done. i went from 9 bearings to 11. may have to put 1 or 2 more on each side, spins right and straight, but a little ruff in spots . was easier than i thought, just had to use enough red n tacky! its nice that rollfasts have big dust covers.

    box of parts

i picked up a box of old bike parts today for free. found some cool stuff and the usual junk. grips are just singles...too bad. but hey, they were free!

as much as i liked the chainring that i had on it, it just had to go! to much color clash. so, i brushed the neck, put the rollfast chainring back on, and changed out the seatpost clamp. much happier with the results! still not happy with the forks, but plenty of time left to find some.

    (ORBO) Mesa Büggie : BACK40 Old and New = Rat-isfaction! pg 7

i like the ratty red ones also. looks like it wouldn't take much to match the patina.

had to see if everything fit right. fit better than i expected! plenty of room for the wheels and tires. fit better on this frame than it ever would have on the porky. got in a test ride before the expected blizzard... hot-rodded rear bendix hub feels great! nice and smooth. i can really feel...

definitely keeping the original paint. i want to keep this as simple as possible. my plan is to be able to switch the parts around to suite my ridding mood. to keep all the parts interchangeable. that way it wont be hard to go right back to cruiser mode.

had to give it a new name too. no pork on the bike now. here is the frame that i will be using now. still a lot of work to be done, trueing wheels, maybe have to cut forks down to fit. and whatever other problems come along. hopefully not too many!

haven't thought about it. would take some work to get it ridable. let me think about it.

although i love the way this frame looks, i am going to give up with this one. too many problems. from the high bb to too much rake. doesn't make it feasible at this time. nobody i know welds and limited funds just doesn't work. with that being said, i will go to my backup frame. a 63' top twin...
