I had not planned to be in the show this year, but when I slid that 80mm 2spd wheel into the back of the Evans frame,i knew I had to throw something together. kept it real simple and went a much rattier route than I normally would. the finished bike wears its scars and flaws with pride!
bike looks awesome! I like the rake on that Ruff frame compared to their other ones. the long wheelbase and fat wheels should make for a sweet rider. I love mine.
still going through all the pics I took last sunday, but so far these two are making the cut. took a shaky video also, just haven't figured out how to load it yet!:39:
my two best tips for getting good paint has always been really thorough cleaning with de-natured alcohol and a good etching primer. the last six years ive had to paint,in high heat and humidity, and I sure didn't miss it this year. good luck this time!
the good ol days back when bikes were bolted together! no CAD drafted, photoshopped,CNC machined,TIG welded, billet parts super specials. hold on....my soapbox is starting to get wobbly!:21:
its amazing how the sun goes away as soon as you push the bike out of the garage!:headbang: just a few bad driveway shots before I find a better location. I changed out the front tire to the matching brick tread to beef up the front end and wired up a 9 led tractor light to blaze the way...
rather than trying to straighten out the rusty seat frame I was going to use,i chose to make a hybrid. I had a clean long spring chassis with an ugly old top and a rusty but straight seat pan with a twisted chassis. after some re-engineering and a Mexican blanket it is now....FrankenSaddle!:113:
hands down one of the prettiest frames ever made!:cool2: kinda wish I still had mine sometimes. Cruisershop Campbell has some repop frames that will take an 80mm out back. right now im in love with my new Ruff Porucho. super smooth riding!
I was a lurker for buildoffs 2 and 3,and started participating in rrbo4. im hoping Steve will give me a gold watch or something, when I get to the 10th year!:21:
now have some more parts hung on the frame. now running a black 2.125 brick tread on the 80mm 2spd kickback wheel and a 1.50 on the front. got a post war stem holding a set of 28" bare metal Torrington bars, and some beat up old coke bottle grips. drivetrain consists of an old wald crank w/a...
is there room for one more?:) I thought I was done with the buildoffs until I stumbled upon this combination. an 80mm wheel stuffed into the back of an old evans frame....with NO modifications to the frame whatsoever! this will be a lowbrow build,so its just wiping the dust off the parts and...
thanks Miguel, and yes it went by Joe Normal`s garage. I told him back in March when he was striping the `53 Shelby, that I would be bringing him a big white powdercoated canvas to play with soon. And thank you once again for hooking me up with one of these bad boy frames!:cool2:
from mock up straight to finished!! its about 95% done. the big tractor light I built rolled off my work table and smashed the lens,so I threw a backup on it . I`ll take some better pics when it stops raining every day and post it in the gallery.
a minimalist build thread with few words? how come I never thought of that!:113: looking really good tyler, now go hide on the last page and keep em guessing.
im liking that mint pearl color, its subtle but pops nicely!:cool2: you might try College Cyclery on Virginia for your tires and misc parts. they had a decent selection last time I was there.
