    FITMENT

The plan is simple: Use as many original parts as necessary, add as much chrome as I can, make it badass, and make it saleable. I can't keep a lot of bikes, since I am living in a townhouse. And, speaking of "saleable," I would have kept the faded, rusted patina, but the resale market dictates...

    FITMENT

Think about it. Fitment is what it's all about in rodding; whether it's trying to shoehorn a 392 Hemi into a '32 Ford, or a 7-speed Nexus hub into a single-speed frame. As rat rod bikers, we've all dealt with 22.2 mm goosenecks and 21.1 steering tubes, fat tires in skinny frames, and 26 by 1...

    You in with what?

Now I'm all in. Just ordered a 1000W 48V rear e-wheel for this bike. The frame allows for all kinds of battery and controller placement.

    You in with what?

Hi kids! I bought this a few months ago to use in the next build-off. Three-speed Ross Apollo in rough shape. No plan yet, but I'm lookin' forward to the fun.

    Stiletto by Giant

I cleaned it up a bit and removed some, but not all, of the rust. I had an electric 26" front motor kit and battery lying around, so I went ahead and motorized it. The battery and controller are in the bag on the fork. It really scoots.

    Stiletto by Giant

Stiletto chopper-style bike by Giant. I had never seen one before. It needs spokes, rust removal, grips ad a good cleaning. I may make it an e-bike.

    What are you listening to?

For us ratters, it's gotta be "Roadhouse Blues" by the Doors. Let it roll baby, roll!

What have you been riding lately?

I took my Worksman with Girvin fork on a mild dirt path recently. I felt like a kid again, and swore I'll do more of this.

Rat / Rod Model Kit Bash Challenge II

How did I miss this? My very first model kit build was a 1959 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible, by AMT. I was 10 years old. I added fins, louvers, scallops, etc. Looking back, it was ugly as hell. After that, I guess I built 50 1/25th-/1/24th scale car models. Every year , my mom would raid my...
