Macro Monday! Show that zoomed-in detail shot ON MONDAY

45 miles on the Big Gear Bike Wednesday. This thing is brutal, but so much fun! The little hanging card is Mexican Loteria, which is intended to hang and flutter in the breeze until it flies off and is lost to the world. At least that’s what the woman who sold them to me said 🤷🏼‍♀️. I have...

The second image shows a stainless hose clamp, which I was using when I rode this bike off-road more often. I haven’t used the clamp for 4 years now. My girlfriend and I just rode these bikes 27 miles yesterday, she gets the green bike because it’s lighter and faster 😉 Green bike was first...

1 1/8” threadless forks for vintage Schwinn and BMX frames! Conversion headsets.

Thanks. Yes, it is a simple bolt on adapter. I mounted it on the outside of my rear dropout because my rear triangle is already spread slightly to 135mm to fit a Paul MTB singlespeed rear hub. I know I should just weld it on there, but I have used it for more than 6000 miles now without any problem.

Very nice work! Obviously we are going to ask for a better shot of your tank/decoration there.

A few early photos of headset installation and testing some BMX bars on the green bike. I ended up going with some Surly bars, as these were too tall for my purposes.

    7 Speed Schwinn Klunker Build

I have several vintage Schwinns with the two speed kickback hub. These work great, and I have rebuilt many of them. The step between the gears is pretty wide, about 30%. That’s a lot compared to modern derailleur bikes, but it simplifies your braking and leaves the bike very clean looking.

Anyone fit a 1 inch steerer tube to a Cycletruck?

Schwinns of that era all had the same 1” steer tube on the fork. I had posted about this earlier, but my post was removed because I added an eBay link to my own 1 1/8” conversion headsets. What did you decide to do?

    GIGI

Back to your seat project, I have done a few things now with these fine tipped paint markers. I was very impressed with the way the paint flowed and was easy to guide and fill in a recess. I used some on this chain guard project and a couple of head badge projects with good success.

I am having some fun with this color matching business too. I am changing up the fork and bars on my green bike so I added a matching green headset.

    Bendix 2 speed kickback seals!

Man, that color really pops! Honestly, blue is my favorite.

Very interesting! Just so I understand, you shortened the head tube a bit to accommodate the short steering tube? Very creative! I am glad that the cups still fit in there ok. At some point in time, reaming and facing head tubes was fairly normal, and any shop installing a fancy King or Campy...
