I looked at the Townies but wanted a little more pullback than what they appear to provide. Thanks Dr. T. Good to hear from you again! Luke. Looking forward to it is very much an understatement :D !!! King, I appreciate the compliment and actually like the first set of bars. We shall see...

I appreciate the compliment. I actually plan on going bare metal with the frame and cleaning up the rust areas on the front fork, rear suspension, and fenders. Hopefully, the end result turns out as well as I envision.

The adapter and stem arrived earlier this week and is already mounted...actually had to flip the stem upside down in order to get it to clear over the front fork spring. Here's the latest photo with repop crossbraces just to get a feel for what the bike looks like with handlebars. I can tell...

I think I've settled on using the chopper bars but have spend the past week quarreling over a stem. Since old parts have been removed from the bottom bracket and replaced with a 3-piece crankset, I figured why not utilize a threadless stem adapter for the steer tube area. I'm leaning towards...

I've always wanted wood pedals, and now I got them...fit like a glove. So far, I really like the look of the wood as is and how it plays against the black on the chainring and crank arms. Looks very vintage and I'm leaning towards keeping it that way. Now, I gotta' narrow down my options for...

Just won these pedals on eBay. I also have some wooden handlebar grips that are similar in color to the pedals. Not sure if I'm going to keep the color shade for the grips and pedals as they are or match them with a black wood stain...

I think these bars are really cool too, but I'm not 100% sure they're the right fit for this build.

This has been a challenging build to say the least, especially factoring my limited budget and level of building acumen (i.e. I can't weld, machine, or fabricate and don't know anyone who can either). Yet it's been very fun to bolt on bits n' pieces to stretch and lower a frame:dance2:!!!...too...

A few days ago, I bought a pulley from Lowe's to use as my chain tensioner. I removed the wheel from the steel body...took a small piece of innertube and placed it onto the middle section of the wheel to serve as a strip between it and the chain. I then attached the wheel to a bracket that...

Thanks Renaissance Man! The bottom bracket arrived earlier today and was installed along with the crank arms. Added an old chain I had lying in the garage to get a feel for the chain line....

I've watched this build since Day 1 of the build off and have kept up with its developments on a daily basis...impressive craftsmanship and execution!

    4. Bottom Bracket & Crank Out with old.... And in with the new... 140mm crank arm with a 40-tooth sprocket Just ordered a bottom bracket yesterday and will be anticipating it's arrival sometime later this week. Still have to get pedals, a chain tensioner (or two), a stem, and handlebars...

    3. Saddle/seat It's fair to say that I tweaked the layout of the undercarriage to reflect the straight lines in the frame. The removal of the seat springs gives more attention and emphasis to the rear springs and trusses. The seat post clamp was flipped upside, which allows the seat when...

    2. Tail light (lens not attached) The paint eventually will be removed to bare metal. I couldn't ask for the light to be mounted at a better location on the fender.

Here are a few boring and uneventful updates: 1. Rear Springs & Trusses mounted the ends of the truss brackets to the springs and used large washers to keep the steer tube hole of the truss brackets fastened securely when mounted to the truss rods. Don't know why it took me so long to think of...

I actually like the tank and the color combination is about as good as you could possibly expect it to be. It also compliments the BOAs and gives a nice contrast and use of space in between the bars. I say keep it :D.

Last night, I asked my wife to check out the photos of the handlebars and tell me which ones she liked the most. It so happens that she was partial to the Japanese chopper bars as well. I'll decide soon but for now will focus on acquiring more hardware for the bottom bracket.

You my good friend also make a very valid point and I think the dimpled bars provide a certain level of ol' skool edginess to the bike. Thanks for the kind words.

I happen to agree. Love the bars on Tractorliner and it certainly doesn't hurt that they've been placed on a very cool looking bike:cool2:!!! Option #1 does not have the vertical rise that will give low-sitting bike more visual depth. Option #2 although with dimples is a typical looking ape...
