    Raleigh Twenty

I think everybody should own one of these at some time. They're a lot of fun.

The ol 26x 1-3/8 tire question...

Schwalbe makes an 1-3/8" tire that may be a hair wider than the other brands. They're not cheap but they are good quality. They come in black or a creme color with reflective sidewalls too.

Gichigami Growler Grabber - Finished!!! Pic on page 8

I had maybe 1/8" to deal with and I didn't have to go too deep. Just took a lot of trial and error but I got there...

    Defiance - Aannnnnd it's done!

This is the part of the program where I add some little part to the build and complain about how difficult it was - Just to bump the thread back to the top... I bought two of these on eBay last week and they arrived over the weekend. Tiny five-spoke mags! These are made for newer...

Gichigami Growler Grabber - Finished!!! Pic on page 8

Just the bottom bracket shell. The machining for the factory cups wasn't quite deep enough in some spots for the adapter to fit in there flush.

It was a little brown cylinder-shaped grinding stone. Mine didn't take a lot of work to get the fit right. There were some edges that needed knocked down. I also sanded the cups with some emery cloth in the spots where I could see they were hitting something.

Same adapter that's on my build. Dremel tool and some small files got a nice snug fit... I put a little grease on the cups too. Eliminates any chances of creaking.

    Fabulous Fifties Fixie?

Do it! My RRBO #8 bike was one of those. It ended up being a wonderful rider!

    Defiance - Aannnnnd it's done!

Since the bike is now a rider, that's about all I've been dong with it. With the Fat Franks and Sturmey hubs, this thing is super smooth. And thanks to the fact that I went through the trouble of aligning everything and used a lot of new fork parts, it's super stable. It is also the first bike...

Need some help identifying a 1953 Schwinn...?

Must be the small frame version that's it's different from the others pictured.

    Defiance - Aannnnnd it's done!

I haven't had a lot of time to work on this bike lately. I did manage to sneak in a few test rides including one last night at dusk to my favorite photo "backdrop". This bike may be too hard to shoot with this color in the background but I wanted to see how it would look... I dunno... I...

    Huffy Thunder Road #4

Beautiful survivor! These were all over the place when I was a kid but there aren't many left...

    PAPERBOY

I ripped lots of those old Suntour coasters apart over the years... The internal retarder springs like to squeak and I found that giving them a shot of 30W before greasing everything up keeps them quiet and happy.

BACK IN BLACK (klunker build RRBBO#9) *NAME CHANGE*

I am a fan of that particular Araya rim. They were used on entry level bikes but are some of the easiest rims to work with. I've had customers bring me some of these that were knocked way out of true and I was able to bring them back.

    finding an affordable 1"x24tpi die

This one comes with a beefy handle too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VAR-40B-Fork-Steerer-Thread-Cutting-Tool-/251538901355?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a90e3096b Price seems fair but the seller has a "0" feedback.

How about some truss rod supports to match the ones he made for the fork?

    Defiance - Aannnnnd it's done!

I ran the rear brake cable along the middle frame tube so it wouldn't interfere with any of the design. The stripes are tricky to photograph. The frame is shiny metal covered in a sanded and buffed glossy clearcoat. The design is bright limeygreen/chartreuse and orange. Most of my pictures...
