Thirsty Three Wheeler (formerly The Growler)

Cleaned up the fill-in areas and got a little paint done. I also rebuilt the ND rear for my '51 Roadmaster so that I have something to ride while I tear down the trike rear. That bike had some serious internal corrosion issues and the stem bolt snapped off trying the get the frozen stem out...

    Elgin at local flea market.

Good score. Where is an Elgin serial # database to date them? I picked up one this week.

    Post-war ladies Elgin

Sweet, even better. He had a skip tooth one also but was selling it without the wheels because they were blackout hubs.

    True. Scored an Elgin yesterday.

    Post-war ladies Elgin

Picked this up off of CL yesterday. Haven't tried dating it by serial# yet but since its not skip tooth I'd say late 40's. It was painted with house paint in the 60s but I kind of like it so it will just be a clean and clear coat and new tires. Working on finding a double pan seat I can recover...

Been using the new Valspar stuff I got at Loews on by BO9 bike and I like it so far. Dries quickly, nice nozzle design.

    Straightening fender struts

How's it done? I always seem to have at least one strut on a new purchase that has some sort of kink, or even worse a "s" curve, in it. Hammer the two sides together to flatten it and then respect them?

Just dig around on here using the search feature. Pretty much anything you can imagine has been done on here somewhere. Also hit up the For Sale section. Always tons of goodies in there.

The "Who's not gonna finish?" Thread

I doubt it will finish as I pictured it in my head but in the end I should have a riding bike. Never try to do a build off on a bike that you actually ride all the time. Makes it near impossible to tear it down and work on coz then your daily rider is gone.

    Build Off 9 Highlight Thread

DoubleLs Flat Track Flame Thrower is heating things up. Seriously, the idea of this is pretty terrifying.

Thirsty Three Wheeler (formerly The Growler)

Thanks, hopefully I can get some work done on it this week. I'm hosting a booze cruise on Sunday and would love to at least have it painted and mounted so I can ride it for that. My plans for the rear box keep changing and I'm now considering just modifying a cooler to hold the solar panel and...

Thirsty Three Wheeler (formerly The Growler)

Finally got a pic. Can't really work too much on it right now. Hurricane is too close for my fancy paint booth. Got some of the areas that needed work filled in with sun cured surfboard resin though before the wind blew it over and jacked up the paint

Thirsty Three Wheeler (formerly The Growler)

The irony of this whole build is going to be that the most difficult parts for me will be with carpentry and circuit design. Maybe one of these days I'll have time to take some pics and clear out my garage so I can get to the table saw.

    ENIGMA

This bike is amazing. Rules, no rules: who cares. I'd ride that any day of the week and be stoked about it. Pure bada55ness.

    The Green Machine, Worksman Find.

Back before ape hangers were easy to find everyone at the beach used to ride with our bars like that. Lets you sit more straight up.
