NOS Speedo Parts: Smiths? Stewart Warner?

For anyone wondering, the parts posted above are in fact Smiths speedo parts with the exception of the Stewart Warner drive gear. I believe the parts date from 1950s. Not certain.

NOS Speedo Parts: Smiths? Stewart Warner?

I have this lot of old speedo parts in my collection. Received all of it from the same person. (He inherited a bunch of old bike stock.) One gear is Stewart Warner. As for the rest, I can't be certain. One angle drive is used. One is NOS. A serial number is visible. Also there appears to be a...

    Team Murray 330

I would still like to build a Sting. Or a Mag Scrambler Competition. Cromo tubing, shimano drops, nice brazing. Still heavy as hell, but pretty cool. But the Mag Scramblers, Even the Predators were not track bikes. The DeCoster was pretty sick though. That's because they were made by BMX...

    Team Murray 330

And Huffy was the Pinto. I got a Redline in 1979 after I snapped my Murray. They had no business being ridden on a track.

    1927 CCM Cleveland project

As anticipated, no award-winner, but it will do nicely for this project. Was glad to find some nickel still intact under the rustina.

    Another surprise find

That finish looks amazing. So much character. Very nicely handled.

    1927 CCM Cleveland project

I'll give this stem the once over and see how it looks. No beauty queen, but neither am I.

    1927 CCM Cleveland project

The hoops were originally enamel dipped black with 2 lines of pin striping on both sides of the spokes. Someone spray bombed them black. I can still see faint evidence of the OG stripes. I'm going to take my time and carefully remove the bombing. Hopefully reveal the original finish regardless...

some NOS parts from long gone CCM shop

The set closest to the camera is definitely not for sale. Going on my 1927 CCM Cleveland project. Drop me a message if you haven't already.

    a bike's soul

The soul is in the quality of the welds.

    Found a Hutch

Pretty nice find. Were there any other parts besides what's pictured? Based on the smoothness of the paint job I'm going to say that chrome is in really good shape. Buried treasure. Joe

some NOS parts from long gone CCM shop

here are some parts I recently picked up. Can anyone ID the headset parts? Here's a wide shot, followed by close ups. Thanks. Joe Some nice old tools including some stamped CCM stuff, an enormous Raleigh crank tool and a CCM solid wheel wire tensioning crank too. Some Gibson and/or...

    1927 CCM Cleveland project

I agree. Very happy to have it. Outside of the NOS fenders, I plan to keep it original finish. I'm in the slow process of removing the spray bomb off the hoops. I can see the original pin striping under there. Really hope I can exhume whatever is there.

24" survivor .... please help to identify

Another indication that it's most likely a department store bike is the fork dropout. Very few BMX race forks had their dropouts drilled for those steel clips seen in your pictures. They've come to be known as "lawyer holes" and "lawyer clips" because both were added to consumer bikes to help...

24" survivor .... please help to identify

As long as you love it is the key. As for trying to ID it, I can't specifically. But I'm going to say it's a mild steel department store f/f made to look like a race f/f. Though I'm looking on a smart phone the welds around the seat mast appear to be bubble gum welds. (Instead of a nice...

    1927 CCM Cleveland project

I have most of the parts for this beauty. My plan is to keep the original finishes. I want this to be a well-tuned and preserved rider. The enamel dipped f/f are in surprisingly good cosmetic condition. I was able to bring back some luster with a gentle by-hand polish.

    COOK BROS = GOLD!

Thanks, Bricycle808. This GT is my favorite bike. Maybe ever.

    COOK BROS = GOLD!

I'm a big fan of Cook Brothers 20" stuff, and all of their parts. Really nicely built. Overbuilt bird really. That's part of the appeal for me. As for the CBR cruiser stuff, I was never a fan of the frame look. Was too beach cruiser casual for us young (and short) maniacs who raced BMX. Purely...
