While working on my shifter, I've noticed quite a bit of slop in it. The spring that holds the detents has about 1/8" of play in it. I thought I was putting the spring in backwards, but it won't fit the other way. Have I lost a spacer, or is the shifter built to have a bit of play into it?

Well it's not powder coated. I sanded the face of the left crank using 500 grit wet with no effort at all. It looks much better. Now I have to decide if I want to just do the face of the right crank or try to do part of the chainring too.
The new crankset arrived today. It's black not bare aluminum like the pic in the ad. I went back and looked to see if I ordered the wrong one, there is a small note stashed all the way on the bottom of the ad, stating its black, not silver. Shouldn't that have been the first thing to say...
This is the vendor I got mine from. When I inquired about the lengths, they immediately fixed their ad. I asked for a discount on the next order as I still needed shifter cables, they gave me a good discount, plus they ship very fast, in fact the package was waiting for me when I got home today...
The most important, yet least appreciated part of any paint job.
At least you are creating your own shapes, rather than just repairing the factory's design. I always find that much more satisfying.
Did you use any templates or gauges for mirroring the left and right sides of the body?
The body shop I work part-time at, asked me if I could do real fire. I've done some small pieces before, but this was my first attempt at doing a car. I learned a couple of things not to do the next time, but overall, I'm happy with the results.
I ordered two of these cable stops with the intention of using them as guides on the rear axle housing.
After drilling out the stop. I closed the opening on the top in a vise, then hammered it round again, before welding them up. After that I welded them to the housing.
I also learned I...
Will you be able to remove the panel that covers the chain?
I'm also curious as to your use of ABS for guides, those are some harsh angles to subject the ABS to. I doubt if the guides on the bikes that use these are subjected to such angles.
I see plenty of room for a couple of jockey wheels...
Once again something I ordered was not what was listed in the ad. I ordered a set of Jagwire Silver braided brake cables that were supposed to be 90.5" long, the ones I got are 77.5" long. I'm not sure if they will be long enough. :headbang:
How hard is it to actually send what the customer...
Another bad ebay vendor strikes, this is good and bad. After 10 days of waiting for my crankset to be shipped, I inquired if they plan to ship soon. Now all of a sudden there is a mistake on the chainring size. So the bad is time wasted as I want to get the drivetrain figured out before I go on...
The bottom bars are the top and down tubes from an old girl's Rollfast (pic in the first post of this thread), one of the bars needed a tiny bit of persuasion to match the other. To do this heat was applied to the outside of the part that needed a bit more bend, one end of the pipe was held...
The noodles are glued in place using JB Weld. I roughed up the end of the noodle with some 36 grit paper to give it some tooth. I've got silver braided brake lines coming, along with some cable guides and stops. I wish the lines could be symmetrical, but with the calipers facing different...
