    "120 tooth MINI-VELO"

I'm torn. The 120 tooth brings the bike into the realm of the sick just like your fat tire builds. The 120 is also going to be a lot more challenging to make work. The sweetheart 70 tooth looks tame by comparison but it probably gives you pretty close to exactly the gearing you're looking for...

    Powder Coat Question

Why not use the pitting? Paint it to look like rock, or sand it down to metal at the high spots leaving paint in the pits. Or apply a dark wash of paint that will settle in the pits and accentuate them. It took a long time to get that rusted and pitted, if you've got it flaunt it.

    Columbia Springer Fork

Wow! Thanks guys. When I get it I'll know for sure but from the looks of it, it is indeed the top plate; probably the headset but I can use the bits from the old fork and; one or two questionable shoulder bolts. This should be fun.

    Columbia Springer Fork

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a Columbia springer fork I recently purchased on ebay. From what I understand it is missing a couple of pieces. If anyone has any details or pics of a complete fork I would greatly appreciate it. Here are a few pics from the ad on ebay.

    New Balloon Tire Available

It will be interesting to see how these do. I contacted Coker Tires, manufacturers of repop tires for the automotive restoration hobby, to ask if they had considerred doing bike tires. They currently make a couple of 36x2 3/8 tires and tubes for their own line of extremely big wheeled bikes...

    Frame building workshop

For that money you leave with knowledge and a very cool frame you built yourself. Price a custom frame nowadays. Price a week of specialized training in a class of 5 students. The downside is it's for lugged and brazed frames which constrains you geometry a little. On the other hand it is the...

    Is this crank bent?

It sure looks bent to me. I would expect the left crank arm to be the same height above the flat surface in both pictures. That's left side on a bicycle, not left side in the second picture picture.

Hello from the great white North

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Here are pics of the projects as I found them. The Columbia and Schwinn are pretty much torn down right now. The girls bike is the only rider at the moment so i'll probably just tune it up and keep it rolling for a while. The rims on the Schwinn are swiss cheese so...

Hello from the great white North

Hi all, I have been on the form for a little while now, so I figure it's about time I introduce myself properly. I' just getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus. As a teen back in the 70's I was an avid cycle customizer and mechanic. I had built a few choppers, and a nice stretch that...

    Real world Bike stand opinions.....

I just received a Park Pcs-10 stand in the mail a few weeks ago. I chose it over the Pcs-9 because it has a cam activated closure on the clamp rather than an all screw down closure. There are a few other minor differences that a reviewer has conveniently listed here . I thought the cam would...

Skip Tooth 16" Tricycle - COLSON?

Actually, you can find the tire material that you then have to cut to length and mount using a welded wire loop. It's a pretty involved process involving a purpose built rig, come-alongs and welding. It might be easier and more cost effective to find someone that can do it for you. I managed to...

Cheap and easy shifter mount and stickshift conversion

I have always soldered my cables, then cut with regular wire cutters. This prevents fraying of the cable end and results in a nice clean look that doesn't require a crimp on cable end. You'll need a heat source and flux cored solder, you will find it in either electronic or plumbing supplies. I...

Seeing as how you're ordering them from the same source, why don't you ask your vendor? Dave
