    1976 Schwinn Typhoon "KLUNKENSTEIN"

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. With all the speed holes, it has to be fast! Great detail on the bike - especially lowering the chain guard. It looks fantastic.

GYSOT! - Get You Some of That! - She's a Rider - heading to the Finished Bikes forum soon.

Well, this is my final update for the weekend. Off on a business trip, but I feel like I made some good progress. I'm confident that I will be done in time for Shiny Side Up! I was able to get the headset and bottom bracket installed, the forks assembled and installed, and test fit the motor...

Here's a clip of the motor. It's a Black Stallion 66cc that I ordered up from Gasbikes.net. They forgot to include the machined head, but I emailed them, and I'm sure I will get it next week.

I grew a little envious of the videos that guys like Luke have been posting, so I decided to post a little video up. I'm pretty well wrapped with the frame for the moment - I will post pics later. Now I'm working on the wheels.

Yeah, you really want a rack - how else will you transport a 12-pack from the local quick-e-mart?

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how this is turning out, and that I was able to connect it back to the family. I know my dad thinks it's pretty cool. :113: That's probably right - I haven't tried it, but I don't think any of the patina stuff will work on chrome. That said Renaissance Man...

I played around with my own patina a bit, and while it was OK, I was hoping for something a bit more red than orange. I found this stuff, and the pictures online looked pretty good. So I gave it a shot. I sprayed it last night, and this is what it looked like this morning. Not bad...

Wrapping up the work I started on the long weekend. I managed to start painting on the frame. To speed up the patina process, I covered parts of the frame in tape so I can rust it up later. It was kinda planned, but not really. Once that was sorted, I hit it with some etching primer...

Thanks! you can see 'em in person if you come to Shiny Side Up this year... Is that History/Kelly Park in your avatar? Yup, took that pic at Shiny Side Up a couple years ago. I'll be there again, this time with a few different bikes, and maybe one with a motor if I finish in time.

The weather was nice today, so I started painting the bike itself. The forks and rack were already black, and since there were no decals, I just sanded them a bit, hit them with primer, then a black base coat before hitting them with the willow green base. The fork legs are actually chrome...
