    Matte Black with Gloss striping

This is exactly the advice I was looking for. Thanks! I'm going to be doing a factory paint job, but on a DX. The idea is to have gloss for the wings and headtube, matte everywhere else.

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Lol, yeah, but only by accident. I had assembled the BB with no grease, so I had to take it apart and noticed the metal shavings in there... Never would have thought about it otherwise. Thanks for the compliment. One more BBO in the bag.

    Bar Fly

This is what she started as, a 1953 Schwinn Straight Bar that I picked up at a flea market with a few other bikes and parts. After building The Bishop last year, I really wanted to go in a different direction with this one. Less polish, more rust. Less Cafe Racer, more Rat Rod. After a...

Avocado, the name that now has no meaning!

Sweet ride, man! Nice and ratty, and the skiptooth leather tank and saddle are fantastic. That gas station looks very familiar... May be in the background of my Bar Fly pics...

    Matte Black with Gloss striping

I know that we just finished BB08, but I have already started thinking about my next build. For this build, I want a modern paint scheme - so I'm thinking a matter black base with gloss black darts. Never tried this before, but here's what I'm thinking. Paint the entire bike in a satin black...

    16" Huffman-Some final shots

That is a fantastic build. Love the pics - best effort at the klunker slide pic yet. You may have locked that one up!

    Lady Jivaro

The pictures do not do this bike justice. It is simply amazing. The design, the rack, the bottom bracket... man... And the paint is astounding. I looked at it for a good 5 minutes before noticing the striping - but once you pick up on it, it changes the look of the paint. Well done!

THΣ NATI∇Σ AMΣRICAN...A Zero Dollar build!

Re: THΣ NATI∇Σ AMΣRICAN Such a clean build. I would ride that one, daily. One question - can you get 12 beers in the crate?

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Re: Bar Fly - (Done and dusted) Thanks Schwinnray. She got a lot of looks at Shiny Side Up today in San Jose. I took a little time to sneak away from the show to snap a couple more pics. For a while, I had a vintage gooseneck on the bike, but the apes had a smaller diameter, and the...

    BATLINER , (Batmobile bicycle )

Good to meet you at the show today - can't wait to see the BATLINER in person next year. That rack is SICK!

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Re: Bar Fly - (Back in the Game) After trips to Asia, Hawaii and the Midwest, I am back and I've made some great progress. In fact, she's nearly done. Here's my first of a couple updates. When I last posted, she was rolling, but there was still quite a bit to do. Let's start with the apes...

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Re: Bar Fly - (She's a roller!) Well, she's a roller. Found some time today to mount the fender and chain guard, and get the rest of the drivetrain installed, and took her for a spin. She rides low. Really low. No need for a kickstand, she rests happily on a pedal. Hopefully I'll find time...

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Re: Bar Fly - (Fender and Chain Guard Patina) I found myself in Campbell, CA the other day, and swung in to The Cruiser Shop to check it out. They are a Ruff dealer, as well as Project 346, HBBC and others. Great selection, and if you are local, I highly recommend making a trip there...

*Silent Assassin* - Rear Fender Added

I saw the silver ones - I just happened to see them hanging above the register. Didn't notice any black ones, though. I was distracted by all the shiny bits in the store. :)

*Silent Assassin* - Rear Fender Added

You mentioned the Cruiser Shop a few pages earlier. I happened to find myself near Campbell, CA today with some time to kill, so I checked it out. It's a nice little shop - and they had a decent selection of the 72h and 144h rims you were looking at. I walked out with some Project 346 tires...

Bar Fly - (Patina on the Apes)

Re: Bar Fly - (Fender and Chain Guard Patina) Was finally able to get working on stripping the paint of my old Felt fender. I love the smell of paint stripper in the morning... :) Looks clean enough, but still to a lot of elbow grease to clean it up. One that was cleaned up, I pickled...
