Yes the cables also. I crease any new cable I replace. I dont like getting the bikes back for repair.

Your Walmart problem is on every bike they sell. They do not assemble the whole bike, just the handle bars and peddles and seat. The grease problem comes right from the factory. IF you buy a Walmart or any box store bike Plan on greasing all the bearings.

Patent dates on the bottom are Oct 10 1899, Dec 12 1899 and Nov 27 1900 It is a Columbia Model C Automatic. Very good shape and nothing is missing or broke. Might go up for sale just have to decide if I want to part with it. Have no clue on value so if anyone knows please PM.

Lots of parts that are not correct on that bike. The serial number should have two letters. The fenders are 75,76, or 77. It looks like the forks are BMX. Seat is correct. Handle bar grips are wrong. Has been spray bombed also. Wheels are not correct as Schwinn wheels would be S-7 and those...

Paint stripper will work on the Chrome parts, Easy off oven cleaner in the yellow cans will work on the paint. Just do not leave on very long. It will take the original paint off if you leave on to long. That is a killer find for $15.

You would be better off sending the guard to Pete and have him rescreen it. A nice one will set you back a ton of money. I would also get a recovered seat instead of finding a original one.
