CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

Yep! It's been a while. This time I'm not behind on working on the bike, just late on posting. Last weekend started with a cruise with the Jersey Devils B.C. on the shore in Asbury Park, NJ. Then I cleaned up a pair of Worksman Heavy Duty forks. The chain guard is from Worksman as well. Painted...

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

Ok, I now have a direction and name. Cherry Bomb! I got the tank stripped and painted it with Dupli-Color Bright Red. The fork are Worksman's and the tires will be COLUMBIA SUPERB 26x2.125's.

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

Tank light is not working. So, I pulled out the 'ole multi-meter and did some testing. It seems that the ground was bad. I drilled out the rivet, cleaned the contact points on the tank and bracket, put a new connector and wire on it and installed a screw and nut. Now it works! I used this...

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

Not brake fluid. It's called Purple Power or Purple Stuff. It is a cleaner/degreaser. It will strip chrome and paint off of plastic with no harm to the plastic. I have used it on models for years.

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

I scored a tank! It is complete minus the clear plastic light cover. I've already soaked the bezel in purple stuff to strip the old chrome off. I'll clean up the rust with a wood bleach soak and see if I can get it working.

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

And another week went by without progress. Had to do the mothers day thing ya' know because mom's are awesome. Progress this past weekend though. The frame was coated in grease and grime and a little bit of the original red paint. I got it looking better. I am looking for a tank for this, btw.

CHERRY BOMB! Lighting her off! *DONE*

A bit of a delayed start for me. I was busy last week with work and packing bikes and parts for the Trexlertown, Pa. swap meet. I picked up this bike last year when I was on honeymoon. I think it is a Flightliner. I think it will clean up pretty well. It has some light rust on it and a lot of...

I have used radiator or duct clamps to shim the cups onto the head tube. Nice tight fit.

1966 Fastback (clean it, ride it)

I have been busy cleaning and polishing parts all week. I have replaced some of the hardware with better pieces but most of it is just getting cleaned and reused. A couple of reproduction decals will also make it look more complete. Here the shifter and calipers have been cleaned and serviced...

1966 Fastback (clean it, ride it)

After hitting all of the bolts and nuts with PB Blaster I took it all apart. Nothing broken so far.

1966 Fastback (clean it, ride it)

I picked this complete original Fastback a couple of weeks ago. It is rusty and crusty. No searching for NOS parts. I'll clean up what is on it, replace the tires and tubes, and it will be a survivor rider. This is one of the mis-stamped frames that was produced, single letter followed by the...

    1964 or 1966 Schwinn Fastback ???

Here is the issue with this serial #. Is it a February 1964 Fastback or a February 1966? We all know the Fastback's were not available until 1966. The Schwinn Lightweight Data Book states: ** Note: A_ = January 1966, B_ = February 1966 ("A" or "B" with a blank stamping in the 2nd position. 1/24...

show us your chick bikes heres mine

West German, Executive. It was in pretty bad condition when I first got it. I put a free wheel on it and a lot of custom parts. The chain guard was off of a boys bike of the same brand and I had to make brackets out of brass strip to fit it to the frame. My mother-in-law made the sissy bar pad...

    Madder-Max

Well I'm not going to finish before the deadline. Although we had a few days of warm weather, I had other projects that had my attention. To get the fuel tank done I need very warm weather because it has to be done outdoors. I'll get it finished one day this year.
