(MBBO#05 Class II) My Generation (DONE, w/ wheelie pics)

So, I woke up and checked the weather. 72*, humidity 64% just a bit over optimum conditions but since I'm painting in direct sun it should help. Wiped down the frame and fork with Acetone and got it done. Base coat. Red. Purple on and in the house to cure.

(MBBO#05 Class II) My Generation (DONE, w/ wheelie pics)

Last weekend I tore down the bike and chemically stripped the paint off. Today I hand sanded the frame and fork down to bare metal and cleaned the frame with Xylene. I'm hoping the weather stays nice tomorrow so I can get some color on it. Where are we at... 33 days to go?

Yep! I'm looking forward to seeing this with some paint on it. I like the change you made on the sissy bar.

Last picture of shifter before it goes on the bike. I think it looks way cool with one red knob.

I straightened out the bent rods and drilled out the foosballs. Looks better than the "T" handles.

(MBBO#05 Class II) My Generation (DONE, w/ wheelie pics)

There are a couple of different things going on with this picture. 1. The shifter rods are bent and the handles broken. The fix for the broken handles is a pair of foosballs. 2. Top and base coat colors. The purple looks better than the picture can show. Here are my choice of seats. I think...

Those of you that are using this type of shifter I should point out something on the bottom of the housing. You may or may not know that the two divots on this cross section are used to secure the two brake cables for the rear double calipers.

I did a little bit of cleaning before I headed off to work today. The shifter housing was a bit crusty looking. Goo-Gone took care of the 49 year old decal residue and Autosol metal polish cleaned up the chrome. It still has some scuffs but looks a lot better.

So, the bottom brake issue figured out. Modified the caliper. Normally use the supplied dished spacer. Eliminate the spacer and use a Dremel to dish the caliper mount. Perfectly centered now.

This build is the definition of "Built, not Bought"! And the sissy bar has the logo for those words.

Those Spyder frames are killer! One of my favorites to build on. Yours is looking good.

More mocking up this evening as parts I ordered while I was on the road for the past 2 days. I took a blind stab at the correct front brake caliper would fit and it was a perfect guess that a TYPE 810 from a Fastback worked. The bottom brake caliper for the rear is going to have to get some...

Checking wheel fitment. Using that Jerald Slick you have to check! It is a taller tire. It rotates with no issues! Brand new out of the wrapper vintage Shimano Eagle derailleur.

Tearing it down. You'll see why I have to replace the crank.

There are 5 sensitivity positions adjusted by turning the protector plate. As the bike is ridden an internal sensor changes the freewheel from direct to overdrive. I have not tried it out to see/feel what it dose. It was on 5 speed only bikes so using on a 10 speed is going to be interesting.

I recently purchased off of Facebook V.B.P.A., this 1968 Sears Spyder 10 speed, 24" bike. (I love these frames) It's missing a bunch of parts but a good starting point. Last year I had a Shimano Automatic 5 Overdrive hub I could not get apart. Well I got it apart and respoked with some 12g's. It...

I picked this bike up a couple of weeks ago for the wife. It is amazingly well kept and looks great. For some reason the red band Bendix hub would not turn the wheel. It could be cranked forward and backwards without any movement of the wheel! I took it completely apart and found it caked and...
