Thanks! I have thought about that as well. Something I can definitely do in the future if the gloss ends up bugging me at the end.

I’ve always loved when rat rods incorporate a wild color with rusty patina body’s so that why Rusty received these Firmstrong lime green wheels! Had to see how the colors looked next to each other. I’m in love.

I had a piece of metal bent to fit the shape of the top tube and welded it in. I then went a head and use a little bindo filler to smooth out some low spots where the welds were. I was going to leave it the raw metal but I figured I would try to paint it and blend it into the original patina...

I started the tear down and got everything apart. That’s when I notice this small rust hole underneath the top tube. Which soon turned into this plus more when I started grinding at it. By the end, I ended up cutting out that whole section plus about another couple inches each way...

Thanks for the info! I’m still not sure what color I’m going to paint the HD but I’m leaning towards a tan sand color with everything else black. I’m also thinking about trying the 2k clear coat as I’m reading it’s more durable.

Did you have any issue with the shaft being too wide for the rear sprocket? Everything I’ve seen on here recommends 108mm in width and this one is 127mm.

Oh really? I thought the integrated kickstand was pre ‘99? My ‘99 Deuce has the same as this one. The somewhat universal kickstand that bolts to the bracket under the BB. So maybe this Dyno is a ‘99 as well?
