It’s an Aldi’s stand. It works well after a few tweaks of sandpaper and fender washers. My good stand (Park) is on another project.

Paint has dried and time to grease the head and bottom bearings. I am using marine grease...another tip from RJ the bike guy. I have never done the sealed bearings with caps before. The donor bike stands ready for a new life.

Welcome to the build off. It will be interesting to see what you do to the eighties Huffy. Will it be worthy of riding around the big block?

We have a solution for the fender. Using $2 of hardware from my Ace Hardware store was able to buy this rubber stopper plug that fits my 5/8” diameter hole in bottom of the steerer and use a 1/4”-20 stainless screw and fender washer to compress a nice seal. Thanks for all the ideas...simple and...

Low humidity today...better start painting. First a layer of Rust-oleum surface converter primer in flat black. Then a layer of semi gloss rust-oleum to dry over the weekend.

I would do black walls or solid walls vs gum walls. Maybe something with more aggressive tread like brick beach cruiser tire. . There are some reds out there.

It also did a quick gel coat over my frame pits.

I placed my bike swap meet head badge. It was not be the original but it fits the factory holes and gives more clues to the red detailing/pin striping.

Another issue the fork. There appears no way to mount a fender from below. It may have to saved for another project.

The frame and fork after wet sanding. The frames down tube has some pitting that I will have address next.

With the bearings cleaning up, it is time to get some last photo shots before the bike is cleaned out and made rideable again. The pictures of fork, chain guard back side and fenders all make the spot under the name badge. Yes the bicycle was black when made.

Agreed and maybe these cool old bicycles will still be rideable for decades to come.

I am amazed at Rollfast caps on the bearings verses the typical bearing washers. This includes both the bottom and head sets.

The bearings all look good for 60 year old bike. They are just gucky and dry. Anyways to the purple power degreaser with them.

Organizing the bearing in head and bottom brackets. Pictures in bearing assembly order before degreasing...that’s to RJ the bike guy. The bearings all look good for 60 year old bike. They are just gucky and dry. I am amazed at Rollfast caps on the bearings verses the typical bearing washers...
