Still searching for a great way to clean parts...

I´ts a darn hassle to clean all the old grease, dirt and other junk from all the small parts you need to have cleaned before putiing the bike back together. Or to paint it. So what is the best way? Dishwasher? It works but there might be some saying if the wifey found a "fork" with some other...

Shorter cranks makes pedaling uncorfortabe nand look stupid.

Just the right size. I just want this bike to be rideable for others too.

This may be a tiny problem. If I put the crankarm where I want it then there is only about 6 cm (2,36") gap between the front of the pedal and front tyre. Is that enougn to keep it rideable?

Which photo you refer to? The latter is photoshopped to be 4" longer than the first sideview. Difference is easier to see here.

Ok, weekend is on and maybe I can make some progress. Firstly, I think I´m gonna make the top tubes a bit longer, maybe say 3"-4" (pic below). That way I can make more room for pedals and longer handlebars.Or maybe not... It´ll put those weldings under more stress and I definately don´t want to...

All´s good, no worries. I`m making this bike like I want it to be, what so ever. If it meets the rules, good thing.

As I said in an other thread, I´m also not a muscle bike kind of guy but the timing was right. Also, I´ve never attended to a competition, so here I go.

It would be nice to hear from the jury if this build qualifies. If it doesn´t, I´ll take it off from this thread and put it to other builds. After all, there will be 2 out of 3; apes & bigger rear wheel.

Front wheel is easy to shrink and those bars are already kinda apes (okay, baby apes maybe). That´s enough, right?

No planning per se. Just a few beers and mocking up with random parts lying around my shed. All parts are (at this point, anyway) from ols bikes, nothing new here.

Here it is today. Not ready but you get the idea. To keep it in lines with the competition rules I need to change the front tire and saddle, at least. And what ever I said earlier, there may be parts from something else than ladies bikes...

Funny thing. I still don´t like welding sparks in my ear.

Ok, I´ll get aboard and give it a try. I`m not at all sure I can finish this task in time (or at all) but we´ll see soon enough. It´s called "Working Title" for now but it may change during the trip, if I can figure out a better name. Anyway, there is one main idea. All parts are from scrapped...

    Fenders. Yea or ney?

Why not. Wood was widely used on bike fenders in early 1900´s.

How do you keep parts lined up correctly while building?

A nicely rolling bike that also goes straight need to be well balanced and lined, right? So how do you keep parts lined up while mocking up, welding and so on? Do you have a jig? If so, what kind? Bought or selfmade?
