And as far as the seat, Im pretty sure I have a repop hairpin saddle somewhere. I have the toolbag for it so it has to be here. The way it sits at an angle, I think it will be parallel with the back part of the top tube

Is anyone else experimenting with recumbent bikes?

I read about the revives, very similar to the bike E geometry. There are many benefits that will keep people on bikes for a while longer when diamond frames are no longer feasible. I would love a catrike myself. Its an amazing ride but it cost more than my motorcycle.

I do have a brushed aluminum pump on my 66 Raleigh that fits it. I planned to use it for the final pics. But for now, I think I might have to put this off till after May is over. I will have a lot more time then. May is National bike month and Im riding as much as I can every day. Did...

Is anyone else experimenting with recumbent bikes?

My wife and I are avid cyclists. Last year, just before an Aids Ride from SF to LA, she suffered a spine injury. She has recovered somewhat and now rides a recumbent trike. A Catrike Road AR. Since getting her that, I have started picking up used recumbent two wheelers to try out different...

Since I already took the wheels off it, I finished stripping the fixie of usuable parts, I figured I would just use the brakes off it too but need to drill some bigger holes. Back of the fork will be easy but the back of the brake bridge will be hard to do straight. Im going to dig through...

So I have a dilema. The coaster brake wheel wont work. I repacked it and its even worse. I think the bearings were not hardened and they are either flat spotted or crushed to an egg shape. I then remembered that I had a 20 inch coaster brake wheel for parts but it is the same falcon hub and...

Also, my goal is to build it with what is in my garage. From what I can tell, the only things I will need to buy are crank cotter bolts and maybe tubes.

The back wheel was tossed, it was way beyond repair. I should have some time to play with it tomorrow night. i do have a fixie with 700c wheels i can try but im leaning toward the coaster brake if I can make it work. I also found a really cool raleigh chainguard to use and a new chrome chain...

It had a three speed wheel that was frozen and the front had a dyno hub. I think i still have the front. I was digging out wheels yesterday and im going to try a 26 cruiser wheel with a coaster brake first. It makes a weird noise so I have to repack it. If that doesnt work i have a set of black...

Hello all, I havent done a rat build in a long time but with the extra free time right now why not. A few months ago, I spotted a rusty Phillips bike in the dumpster at work. I brought it home and saved the frame and fork for that some day project. Maybe that day is now. Im pretty sure I...

    Monarch Springer Fork

Hello, I have this 1 inch threaded repop Monarch springer fork. I have no use for it and would like to trade it for a 1 1/8 threadless springer if someone has one. Prefer matte black but gloss black or chrome would do and it needs the holes to mount a disc brake. Otherwise this fork is for sale...

    Raleigh Rat Mailbox Bike

So I finally found the right bolt and some washers to hold it together firmly. Rode it around the shop today quite a bit. Front tire will be a similar tread blackwall and the rear will be a slick. Just dreading all the individual bearings

They are cracked really bad. Wouldnt recommend them for a rider. When I get them off I will let you know. Im all about keeping things original but since I had to cut the release mechanism apart its no longer 100%. Im still trying to find the right shim/bolt combo to go in there to hold it...

    Raleigh Rat Mailbox Bike

I picked up this 73 Raleigh folder about 2 years ago from the daughter of the original owner and these picks are the bike when I got it. I had a milk crate ziptied to the rear basket and used it to ride two blocks each way to the mailbox. But it rode like crap, the tires are shot and the tubes...
