Wiring roulette! Hardly any gas left in the soldering iron.. Lol

Anyway I do have one more modification which is going to totally transform the look. I'm still not 100% on it, so it might not happen. But I think it will. Definitely on the "wild side"......

Ha ha thank you! I have made my share of wild crazy bikes! I thought I'd calm down this year as I don't have much spare time. Boy did I get that wrong, this is taking ages to get right Luckily the next bits can be done at home in the evenings......

It does have a build thread, just not on here. https://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=1548897

The foam arrived today. So that should hopefully make the boxes water tight.

No, I definitely understand headers, here's a set I've just made for the car I'm building (a flat four alfa romeo) Equal length primaries and secondaries. And the ones on that gasser oldsmobile look great, I just don't think they suit the bike.

Great build! I am going to make myself unpopular though..... ..... I don't like the headers! I understand why you made them, but I think they don't flow with the bike. I'm now ducking down under my workbench awaiting the insults lol

Yep. I scratched the paint! Third time I've painted it. Did I mention I hate painting? Oh, and I ran out of paint mixing cups lol

I haven't finished with orange yet........ Maybe!

It's the details that eat away the time. For instance, this little fixing plate for under the pannier took over an hour to make. One tiny plate, one hour!

And then, I couldn't help fitting the rear lights. They are only temporarily hooked up to the battery, but you get the idea.

I'm fixing the pannier box to the frame with hidded bolts under the oak slats. This meant that I had to make a recess in the wood. A nice sharp chisel would have been perfect for this job. Unfortunately, as I said, I don't "do" woodwork so the finger file was dusted off.

To follow the advice from one of my heros, Colin Chapman, "add lightness" Now, the question is: Once I've finished "adding lightness" should I paint it? I quite like the "rattyness" of it, but this isn't a rat build. But since it's in the ratrod build off, maybe it should be left....

I found this nice little cog on my ride. So I thought it would make a cool kick stand extension.... But it adds quite a bit of weight and I'm worried that it would drop down whilst riding. Not sure what to do now.

Also, having restored the side kick stand, I realised that it's not going to work now that I've fitted bigger wheels.

And off on my first test ride while the paint dries on the panniers. All went well, but I've realised I've bought the wrong chain. I went 1/8 when it should be 3/32. So there's a bit of chain noise till the new one arrives. Coaster brake skids for the WIN!

When I looked at the paint this morning, I just couldn't live with it. Drips all over it. So I filled my full size spray gun up with epoxy black and re did it. Now I'm much happier. Oh and I made a new front light bracket And fitted the front brake... "racer"!!

I'm aiming this bike as a commuter/student bike. Room for a laptop and A4 folders. Plus charging your phone as you ride. That's why the panniers are lockable.

It's not. The battery is for the lights and USB charger.
